What a great turnout at the 2026 Democratic Party of Georgia State Convention!

It was wonderful hearing from candidates running for offices across Georgia—from congressional districts to statewide races. Judge Penny Brown Reynolds brought a powerful message that put the Holy Ghost back in you! And after hearing from Keisha Lance Bottoms, one thing was clear: she is ready to get on the job!

We were especially proud to see such a huge turnout for the African American Caucus of the Democratic Party of Georgia. The room was filled with passionate people who are ready to become involved, stay engaged, and help move our communities forward.

Many attendees came from counties that do not currently have a county-level African American Caucus. Their questions and enthusiasm demonstrated both the need and the opportunity to grow our presence throughout Georgia.

Our chair did an excellent job explaining Robert’s Rules of Order and discussing the importance of participating, donating, and supporting the work of the Caucus. We also talked about the elections ahead, how we can remain visible, and why we must vote for the entire Democratic ticket—from the top of the ballot all the way down. Every race matters, and every vote counts.

We left inspired, energized, and mindful of the work ahead. We look forward to collaborating with county chairs, existing county-level African American Caucuses, and communities interested in establishing new caucuses.

Our presence matters. Our voices must be heard. And our work continues!

It was an honor to represent the African American Caucus of DeKalb County at Georgia Conversation with U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff and U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks.

It was also a privilege to be in attendance with other Black women leaders from across Georgia, each bringing diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. The collective wisdom, leadership, and commitment in that room were truly inspiring and a powerful reminder of what is possible when women come together to serve their communities.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was hearing about the issues impacting Black women and families across Georgia—from the rising cost of living and access to health care to protecting our hospitals and expanding economic opportunity. These conversations matter because they affect real people every day.

As Chair of the African American Caucus of DeKalb County, I look forward to bringing these conversations back to our community and turning them into meaningful action. Our voices matter, and so do your experiences.

It was a pleasure attending the Community Conversations: Affordability & Action hosted by the DeKalb Democrats' Ellenwood and Cedar Grove Communities. Thank you to the community chairs for the invitation and for creating a space where residents could come together, ask questions, and be heard.

It was inspiring to hear from Rep. El-Mahdi Holly , Keonna Jones-Moore, Peter Hubbard, and Sheila Edwards about the importance of staying engaged, holding our leaders accountable, and taking action to strengthen our communities.

I especially appreciated the discussion on how proposed data centers can impact our neighborhoods, our environment, and our utility costs. It also reinforced why electing leaders like Peter Hubbard and Sheila Edwards to the Public Service Commission is so important, as the PSC plays a critical role in regulating electricity rates and protecting Georgia consumers.

Community conversations like these remind us that meaningful change begins by listening to one another. Thank you again to the Ellenwood and Cedar Grove Communities for bringing everyone together and demonstrating the true meaning of accountability, action, and community engagement.

What a great night at Politick & Mixer!

Thank you to everyone who came out and spent the evening connecting, networking, and building relationships. It was wonderful meeting new people, seeing familiar faces, and sharing meaningful conversations with members of our community.

A special thank you to our partners, Invest in South DeKalb and Rep. El-Mahdi Holly, for helping make this event possible. We are also grateful for the elected officials, community leaders, organizations, and business owners who showed up and participated.

When we come together across our community — leaders, organizations, businesses, and neighbors — we strengthen the relationships that help move our community forward. This is what community in action looks like: people showing up, supporting one another, and creating spaces where connections can grow.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this evening. We look forward to continuing to build relationships and working together for a stronger community.

The Chair and Secretary of the African American Caucus of DeKalb County attended the first DeKalb County Government Academy. It was an incredible opportunity to learn more about how the different branches of DeKalb County government work together to serve our community.

As leaders, we believe it is important to continue learning, growing, and staying engaged. Government is always evolving, and effective leadership requires us to remain informed, adaptable, and committed to continuous development.

Following the academy, we had the opportunity to attend the opening of the Coordinated Campaign office in Tucker. It was wonderful to see the Chair of the DeKalb County Democrats, the CD4 Chair, and connect with Rep. Imani Barnes, community members, Tucker's office opening team, including Jen from the Democratic Party of Georgia. It is always a pleasure to see so many dedicated individuals coming together.

Collaboration matters. This is not politics as usual! It is about building relationships, strengthening our communities, and recognizing that progress happens when we work together.

The future of our communities depends on engaged, informed, and empowered residents who understand that their voices, experiences, and talents matter. Leadership is not just about holding a position; it is about continuing to learn, listening to others, and creating opportunities for everyone to help shape the future of DeKalb County.

Together, we can continue building a stronger, more connected, and more inclusive community!!

Yesterday, the African American Caucus of DeKalb County proudly joined the Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade alongside our fellow DeKalb Democrats.

As America celebrates 250 years of democracy, we recognize that democracy has always been a work in progress. For Black Americans, the fight for equal voting rights, equal representation, and equal opportunity has never truly ended. Yesterday reminded us that we are not fighting alone. Democracy is strongest when communities show up together, march together, and vote together.

Our presence in the parade was about more than celebration—it was about demonstrating what democracy looks like when people from every background stand united in protecting it.

This November, let's continue the work. Re-elect Jon Ossoff, elect Keisha Lance Bottoms, support Josh McLaurin for Lieutenant Governor, and vote the entire Democratic ticket.

Let's keep democracy alive for the next 250 years—and ensure those years are defined by inclusion, justice, and opportunity for everyone, where Black Americans no longer have to fight to be fully included, but are recognized as equal partners in building our nation's future.
