"Vienna was a pioneer of urban planning that prioritises people over vehicles, but its famous public transport system has its roots in tram lines that were laid when it was still the booming capital of the Austro-Hungarian empire."

Austrian capital mulls expanding tram network and park-and-ride car parks in effort to reduce private vehicle use

"This year, Anne Applebaum takes the stage at the Judenplatz in Vienna: In »The European Moment«, the historian and author asks whether Europe's hour has come, and what it - what we - will do with it. Systems of oppression and authoritarian control, once seen as anomalies, are increasingly treated as models. What does Europe have to offer in response?
Since 2019 »A Speech to Europe« has offered a fundamental reflection on Europe's present and future. The choice of Judenplatz is no coincidence: The location serves as a reminder that Europe can only be understood in the mirror of its history.
🗓 13 May 2026
⏰ 18:00
📍 Judenplatz, Vienna
The speech will be held in English.

This event is a joint project of Wiener Festwochen, ERSTE Foundation, and the IWM - Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen, in cooperation with the Jüdisches Museum Wien."

"🤔 What opportunities do I have if I want to work in Germany as an international student? What rules do I have to consider and what about taxes? When you are looking for a job as a student, many questions can come up.
There are three basic types of jobs you can have alongside your studies:
1️⃣ Mini-job
2️⃣ Working student
3️⃣ “Hiwi” (“Hilfswissenschaftliche Kraft”) - a research assistant, often a student job at university.
Find out which of these three options suits you and your needs best! 👇"

" , 75 years ago, six nations signed the Treaty of Paris, establishing the European Coal and Steel Community — a bold and unprecedented step toward lasting peace in Europe.
Born from the vision of the Schuman Plan (named after French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman), the ECSC placed the coal and steel industries — essential for war efforts — under shared European authority. By making former rivals interdependent, it aimed not just at economic recovery, but at rendering war between them “not merely unthinkable, but materially impossible.”
Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and fellow leaders from France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg embraced this vision: a Europe bound together by common interests, cooperation, and trust. For the Federal Republic of Germany, it marked a historic shift — from imposed oversight to voluntary partnership within a united Europe. This peace project laid the foundation for today’s European Union."
