โจ Program Spotlight โจ
We are starting a monthly Program Spotlight Series to make sure that everyone knows all of the programs that we offer. We have frequently heard that not many people know that we do more than just provide food and clothing. We provide almost a little of everything!

๐๐ This Month's Spotlight Is Our Largest Program: The Food Pantry ๐๐๐
We provide food to anyone who needs it in Morgan County, AL regardless of income. The CCC gets food from a number of places, but the majority of our perishable food is rescued from local grocery stores and restaurant partners. We rescue food 6 days a week, typically equating to around 5,000lbs a week. While food rescue accounts for the vast majority of the fresh food we give out, the canned/ dry food staples in our pantry are provided by drives and donations from the community. These are vital to ensure that our clients, especially the homeless, are able to get food through our program.
Each food order is scaled to the size of the family, and provides roughly 2-3 weeks of dairy, meat, produce, canned goods, and bakery items. During the summer, we also provide extra food to families with children who are temporarily not eating at schools during the day. Those who are homeless receive what we call a "travel bag" which contains a share of the shelf stable foods, prepared foods, and produce we have available. We are grateful for several churches and businesses who occasionally drop off their uneaten catering leftovers, as those make for a true treat for our weekly homeless visitors.
We partner with the Food Bank of North AL and Feeding America for guidance on our program structures, grocery partnerships, and to maintain safety standards. In an effort to reduce waste of inedible foods, we also partner with a local farmer to feed his livestock. In all, our food pantry/homeless/summer feeding programs alone touched the lives of more than 8,700 neighbors* in 2025 and accounted for more than $2 MILLION dollars in food value distributed to the community alone.
