Decatur County Emergency Management

Decatur County recently purchased several AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) to be place in county buildings throughout the county. These devices have been proven many times to save lives and improve quality of life after a cardiac event. Our department has been given the responsibility of installing and maintaining these devices, as well as implementing training. We are currently planning a community event to educate and train the public on CPR and AEDs. More info will be provided later on training times and locations.

We would like to thank the County Commission and County Mayor for supporting this new program. The pictures below show the new devices at the Decatur County Civic Center, Decatur County Senior Center, Decatur County UT Extension office, and the Decatur County Courthouse.

"Get Alarmed, TN!" is a grant-funded fire safety education and smoke alarm installation program administered by the State Fire Marshal's Office (SFMO). Launched in November 2012, the program distributes fire safety education and 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms to participating fire departments. The fire departments then deliver the education and install smoke alarms in at-risk homes across the state. Request a free smoke alarm at the link below.

13z update from SPC is out. A few strong storms could effect northwest Tennessee this morning, but confidence is highest in the severe weather threat materializing this afternoon and evening with damaging winds the primary concern.

Multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms are forecast to impact portions of the Mid-South on Wednesday. There is a Slight Risk for severe storms along and west of the Mississippi River, and a Marginal Risk to the east. Damaging winds will be the primary threat. Large hail and flash flooding will be secondary threats.
