The Winneshiek County Recorder's Office will be closed Monday, May 25th, 2026 in remembrance of our brave heroes this Memorial Day.

The office will reopen Tuesday, May 26th, at 8 AM.

Per Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (IDHHS)-
Effective July 1, 2026, the IDHHS is increasing the fee for certified copies (birth, death, and marriage) of vital records. The fee will increase from $15 to $20. The fee for birth registrations and marriage registrations will increase from $35 to $40.

We have had a lot of questions regarding the America’s 250th anniversary commemorative passports being released after July 4th. The only locations getting this depiction of the passport are locations in Washington D.C. and only available when applicants go in person. We will not be getting this as a passport option here in Winneshiek County. For further questions, please call our office at (563) 382-3486.
