Brook side on Mann Brook

Brook side on Mann Brook This is a private dwelling. Absolutely NO TRESPASSING without an invitation Living in a tranquil beautiful spot on Mann Brook. We love our little hidden gem.

For nearly 20 years we were the only property on the brook a few years ago our across the book neighbors joined us, niw there are 3. We enjoy watching the ducks, and loons, and curious folks in kayaks and paddle boats paddling around. In the spring we sometimes get a nesting loon. We always get the craziest looks as we start up our boat and head for the bridge. passing through with only inches to

spare we float out onto Green Lake. The Brook has had its shares of ups and downs over the years. The Beavers are constantly trying to claim it for there own by building dams under the bridge or above our property near the railroad bridge. We have three times now been or come close to flooding so the battle is always active.. so far we are winning but they don't give up without a good fight.

I by far do not have a green thumb but this summer my mother's spirit must have been interjecting. This impatient (pink flowers) was left from last summer and looking pretty sad, I kept it all winter at home. I don't have a before photo as it was not photo worthy. Needless to say I brought it back to camp in a small pot transplanted it gave it some miracle grow and this happened. I have no idea how I can move it home not sure if I can prune it and make new plants. Any green thumbs have any suggestions. It is technically an annual but will stay alive in the house. I hate to let it die but it's HUGE! The other I think it's called a Kalanchoe plant I have had for years but it too trippled in Size but much more manageable to move.

Cannot imagine why my nose is running and my head hurts.

Fall is upon us and the air has cooled. The leaves are dropping and the brook is draining.the boats and jet skis are preparing for a winter nap dock is out and hottub drained and closed up. The tower has been closed up for a winter rest and we are back to one room loft living. By now we would have moved home for season but our current nurse renter extended until Dec 15 so we will be at the brook until then. Brian got saddened by the early sunset and decided to Christmas up the cottage. My Christmas cactus is also participating as it is in full bloom.
We hope to revisit rebuilding this winter, with a potential construction start in Sept 2024. The camp has several issues and they need to be addressed or we will have larger problems moving forward. After looking at fixing the problems we realized it is more cost effective to tear down the main. Camp and start over, preserving the tower and reconnecting it. At this point we could really use the Maine Cabin Masters. We submitted an application a year ago when we thought we would just fix the issues. We knew hearing from them was a long shot, so we continue to get prices in hopes the project can get done before our permit expires next year. Happy Fall Y'all from Brook side on Mann Brook.

We've told this story many times I came across the pictures again and thought I would post. This is what happens when you put your boat and jet skis in in April. There were no beavers involved in this damn. APRIL 2005. The bridge on Mann Brook, entering into Green Lake

Summer of 2020 has come to an end, autumn is here for a spell. Brookside on Mann Brook is preparing for a long winters nap. The brook has drained to prepare for winters snow. The Grackles are flocking in preparation for the trip south. The wood is stacked and we are enjoying one last beautiful Saturday with Abby on the Paddle boat.

Our Story

We are an association of 2 living in a tranquil beautiful spot on Mann Brook. We are the only property on the brook and enjoy watching the ducks, and loons, and curious folks in kayaks and paddle boats paddling around. In the spring we sometimes get a nesting loon. We always get the craziest looks as we start up our boat and head for the bridge, passing through with only inches to spare we float out onto Green Lake. The Brook has had its shares of ups and downs over the years. The Beavers are constantly trying to claim it for there own by building dams under the bridge or above our property near the railroad bridge. We have three times now been or come close to flooding so the battle is always active. So far we are winning but they continue to put up a good fight.

With such a beautiful spot, private yet large and open it is hard for us not to want to host gatherings for our family and friends. Check out all the fun we have had over the years. We just love our little hidden gem.
