Tom Lindner, Cindi Torres and State Central member Kathryn Russell represent Deep River at the 2026 Republican Convention at Mohegan Sun. The energy leaving the convention was electric as the full Republican delegation left united behind Ryan Fazio, candidate for Governor and Matt Corey, Candidate for Lieutenant Governor. The Republicans will not need a primary, and can go straight to election campaigning.

SIMPLY A COMMUNICATIONS ISSUE???
A week ago, 202 Deep River taxpayers voted "NO" on the Region 4 budget referendum. This strong turnout resulted in the referendum failing. The Region 4 Board of Education scheduled two additional meetings to gather citizen input on the budget, with a plan to send it to a second referendum in early June. Only 6 citizens attended the budget workshop last night. No suggestions for budget cuts were brought by school administration leaders or by the Board of Education. Complexities which hinder reducing expenditures were presented. Board members expressed that "we have a communications problem, not a budget problem." It was said that Deep River residents "just didn't understand" the budget process, and once Essex citizens are rallied to get out and vote at the next referendum, the budget as originally presented will pass. While the Essex numerical dominance and affluence may be a reality, the position came across as highly disrespectful of the economic reality of Deep River residents.

The next opportunity for public input is tomorrow, Wednesday 5/13 at 6 pm at JWMS. Please attend, learn the issues and share your ideas for positive change. Don't just vent on Facebook . . . become an active part of the discussion and the solution.
