Do you love your County parks and trails?
Have ideas and suggestions about community and government spending priorities?
Powell County is undertaking an update to our 2017 Growth Policy. This is a COUNTY-wide document that aims to capture our values and guide growth! The Growth Policy gets updated about every 5 years but we want to look toward the longer horizon as we continue to plan and make decisions.
Please consider ATTENDing an OPEN HOUSE this spring, and be on the lookout for a fun but comprehensive survey that will help guide the development of this process. Follow the QR code for a link to the project website.

It's a great weekend for a bike-ride, and we have just the spot!

We are very happy to share photos of the TWO new pedestrian AND bike gates on the Old Yellowstone Trail through Grant-Kohrs Ranch! (Washington Street Trailhead).
Many of you noticed that after the trail was completed in 2023, two gates along the G-K section made the bike-ride toward Garrison difficult.
Due to some top-notch handy work by Brian Witt (Mount Powell Cattle Co), trail-users can now pass freely along the trail without running in to pesky gates. We appreciate working with the great staff at Grant-Kohrs Ranch, and couldn't be happier to see this installment.
If you haven't been out to walk the trail yet, this is the perfect time to venture out. The trailhead is less than 1/2 mile west of downtown: turn right off Milwaukee just past Kentucky.

Join us Monday at the Washington Street Trailhead to celebrate the official Ribbon Cutting for the Old Yellowstone Trail! The OYT is a neat river trail that goes from Deer Lodge to Garrison, Montana.
The first leg traverses the historic Grant-Kohrs Ranch.
E-bikes (types 1 & 2 are OK!). The trail is a piece of the larger Great American Rail Trail. Once complete, you'll be able to ride your bike from Deer Lodge to Washington DC
Festivities will be weather-dependent, but we plan on doing a running shoe giveaway and taking a walk on the "new" trail.
