🎉 Please join us in congratulating Debra Culp, our new Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation! 🎉
For Debra, this new chapter is especially meaningful because her story with Deer Park Parks & Recreation began right here at home.
A proud Deer Park graduate, Debra began working part-time with our Recreation Division while attending the University of Houston-Clear Lake. In 2013, she joined the department full-time as our Athletics/Aquatics Coordinator, later advancing to Athletics/Aquatics Supervisor.
Throughout her career, Debra has become an exemplary leader, mentor, and role model to countless staff members. Her passion for parks and recreation is reflected not only in the programs and facilities she has helped lead, but in the people she has inspired along the way.
Over the years, Debra has helped guide many young employees toward discovering their own passion for the parks and recreation profession. Some of our lifeguards have returned home from college to work at Dow Park Pool for six years or more — a testament to the supportive environment, relationships, and leadership she has helped build.
Debra has also served as our department’s CAPRA Accreditation Manager, leading Deer Park Parks & Recreation through the rigorous process of earning national CAPRA Accreditation and, most recently, successfully achieving re-accreditation. Her dedication to excellence has helped strengthen our department and position us for the future.
And Debra’s commitment to Deer Park extends far beyond her professional role. As an avid community volunteer, she continually demonstrates just how deeply she cares about the community she calls home. 💙
