Hi all,

Tonight the student council held another meeting. Here are some highlights you can take away:

1. We discussed ideas for Spring Day next term, involving ice cream, water balloons and guns, and foam pits (more to come).

2. Will Morgan '17 is working on getting more parking spaces for day students. Currently, due to construction, the only spots available are behind Johnson-Doubleday.

3. We talked about possible dress code changes, for example eliminating ties for boys. These were preliminary ideas but we will update you if any go through.

4. Alex Platt '18 and Eric Kim '18 will be working on getting shoe racks in every dorm. Many students leave their footwear in the hall and these get cleaned up and thrown out (they are considered a fire hazard).

5. We discussed finding better ways to receive student input and ideas, for example through a box in the Main School Building, online, or through Facebook Messenger.

Last night the student council held it's weekly meeting.

Here are some of the highlights:

1. As we enter the holiday season, student council is organizing Candy Grams–you'll be able to send a message along with a Candy Cane to any of your friends.

2. Amelia Evans ('18) received some requests for a formal dance on Valentine's Day, which we're currently planning. We're thinking that girls will ask guys (boys ask girls for semi). More details to come.

3. A lot of people asked John Esposito ('17) for skate and helmet rentals for Friday Night Hockey, so he's going to speak to the administration to explore that possibility. We're also talking with the athletic department about hosting "Game of the Weeks"–basically promoting sports teams of any level and offering hot chocolate or snacks at their games.

4. It's also confirmed that we're going to have an outdoor hockey rink between Harold Smith and the Library. More to come on this.

5. Lastly, I received a bunch of requests to fix broken shower hooks in dorm bathrooms, and I'll be talking with physical plant to get new ones as soon as possible.

Tonight student council met for the first meeting of the year. We look forward to a great year ahead. Tonight, Student Council met in the Caswell Library.

We discussed class lock-in areas at the end of the year (the pool, Kravis, etc.).

Presidential Elections are also approaching and Student Council is planning on holding a Presidential Debate prior to the election this year. This is still in planning and we'll update you more in the future.

This meeting, we held elections for the Council Chair for next year. We unanimously elected Danny Finnegan as the man for the job - congratulations Danny!
