The Assistant Chief just completed a walk of Tuesday’s fire, and while all still looked good, it was noted the woods were still quite dry despite the half inch of rain we got. Please continue to use caution with potential ignition sources outdoors.
You will see us checking the area for a few days, or until we get significant rain.

Operations on Middle Rd are complete and the road is open. Even with the rain coming you will see members checking the area over the next few days due to the intensity that the fire burned.
I was remiss in earlier posts in forgetting to thank our daily partners from the Deerfield Police Department who assisted with getting lines out in early stages and then dealt with the traffic nightmare we created.
Also the dispatchers at Rockingham County Sheriff's Office- High Sheriff Charles Massahos as we taxed the entire system with our incident!

Crews from Deerfield and several mutual aid partners have been back on Middle Rd since about 8am. Hazard trees have been removed and crews are digging out the last of the hotspots. We were assisted by the RCSO drone team and the Rangers again as well today.

As many of the notification pages have posted we had a significant brush fire this afternoon and evening on Middle Rd that threatened several homes and resulted in several large explosions. The fire is contained, however hotspots remain. Crews will be back out tomorrow morning.
Once again thank you to our outstanding mutual aid partners, we hit 5 Alarms so to many to list, as well as the Rockingham County Sheriff’s office dispatch and drone team. Having a bird’s eye view of the fire was immensely helpful!

Quick reminder of how outdoor burning works in NH. If there is not snow on the ground you need a permit, obtained either in person at the station or online. When you can burn depends on the class of fire you want to have. If it’s raining you can burn anytime, but you still need a permit. If you have any questions give us a call at the station! The link to the online permit system is below.

It’s always good to have friends who will come help in a pinch! Thank you to the Northwood Fire - Rescue Department, Raymond Firefighters Association, Candia Fire Rescue, Allenstown Fire-Rescue and the State Rangers and Special Deputies that came out and assisted with our brushfire today. As a reminder spring fire conditions are in effect and it is very easy for even a small spark to result in an out of control fire. Caution should be used with all open flame and any powered equipment.

Today the day crew exercised some forestry pumps. If you’ve even been on a fire line in the northeast you recognize this sound anywhere, no other piece of equipment sounds the same!

Slightly delayed but here we are!
As usual this is a self paced activity and feel free to reach out about cleaning up on your own time!
The blue bags are not required, however they are available to save you the cost and make it readily identifiable that your are part of the event when disposing of them.
