On August 20th, we celebrated Leah Fritsche's 22 years with the library. Leah started with the Deerfield Public Library as the Assistant Director and was promoted to Director in 2011. Leah has been a professional librarian for 26 years, with 22 of those years right here in Deerfield. She oversees many programs, including Story Time, Music Performers for all ages, History and Author talks and visits, and Summer Reading Programs for both kids and adults. Leah has played an integral role in starting many new programs at the library, such as a Teen Advisory Board, additional book clubs, and a partnership with Deerfield Community Center for programming that includes performers, chair yoga, and programs promoting safety while aging, to name a few. Leah also served as President of the Chamber of Commerce for 10 years. Leah also loves acting in community theater productions and completed her 6th walking marathon this summer. Please join us in congratulating Leah on her 22 years with the Deerfield Public Library.

This is a reminder to all residents that door-to-door salespeople in the Village of Deerfield are required to hold a Direct Sellers Permit. If someone comes to your door to sell you something, such as bug spraying services, ask them if they have a Deerfield Direct Sellers Permit. If they don't, please send them to Village Hall, where we can work with them to get this resolved. These permits are issued by each community, so having a permit from another community doesn't count.

Also, please note that a small class of vendors is exempt from having a license, such as non-profit organizations (although they do need to prove their non-profit status to the Village), salespeople that go directly to businesses, people that are selling crops they grow, and some others, which are all listed in the ordinance which is linked below.
