A firefighter who answered calls for help for nearly 30 years died from occupational cancer, leaving behind a wife and two children. PEAK ALERT - Thursday, July 2, 2026 | Approximately 2-8 pm ☀️

We’re asking for your support one more time this week! As extreme heat continues across the PJM region, and today’s demand is expected to exceed 165,000 megawatts — potentially breaking long‑standing summer peak records. PJM does not issue Peaks on holidays, so tomorrow will not be a peak day for PJM, but may be a Peak for transmission.

👉 What should you do during a peak alert?

Remember, electricity costs MORE during a peak period of demand.

💧 Delay hot water use, showering, washing clothes, etc., until after the peak.

💡 Turn off unnecessary lights.

🍔 Cook with the microwave rather than the oven, which uses more energy (or grill out... you can even choose to go out to eat instead).

🌡️ Tap the A/C a notch up a few degrees until after the peak.

Plan for a Peak Alert from 3 to 7 pm today. Due to the extreme heat forecasted, peak alerts are likely June 30 - July 2 in the early afternoon through the late evening hours.

Our rates are based on our top five highest days of usage, so by reducing your energy use, you will help keep rates low. If you have a load control switch, it will be activated around 2 pm.
