Defiance County Job Opening – Weekend Assistant Dog Warden

The Defiance County Commissioners are accepting applications for a part-time Weekend Assistant Dog Warden position covering every other weekend.

Duties include:
• Animal care and dog impoundment
• Investigating animal bites
• Checking dog licenses and maintaining records
• Assisting with additional dog warden duties

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Ohio driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Criminal justice background preferred

Pay: $100/day on-call pay plus minimum 2 hours regular pay if called out.

The Defiance County Commissioners are accepting applications for a full-time Social Services Worker II position. This 36-hour/week role includes benefits, paid holidays, OPERS retirement, health insurance, and vacation time.

Responsibilities include:
• Investigating child abuse/neglect cases
• Conducting family assessments and case management
• Working with courts, law enforcement, and community agencies
• Providing support services for families and children

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in social services, criminal justice, or related field
• Valid Ohio driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Pay: $21.01 – $33.28/hour

Safety Town is coming up soon! June 9-10 at Defiance Area YMCA and June 11 at the Defiance County Fairgrounds in Hicksville. The Defiance County Health Department is in need of volunteers to help this program be successful! They are currently seeking individuals (high school age through adults) to help at this year's Safety Town events. Multiple positions are available.
