Women's Giving Circle of Defiance County

Women's Giving Circle of Defiance County Our Mission: To support projects which impact the lives of women and children through:
Education, Direct Projects, Partnering with other organizations

Our Purpose:
To cultivate women as philanthropic leaders. To educate, inspire, and assist women to become leaders, well informed, self sufficient, and contributing members of society. Gift Allocations:
The Circle funds two distinct vehicles. One is used for funding annual projects and the other to create a long-term endowment fund.

- Although $1 per day or $365 per year is our goal, the Circle

welcomes and encourages giving at all levels. All funds collected are allocated 75% to annual projects, and 25% to the endowment fund.

- Gifts in excess of $365 may be designated by the donor for immediate impact for annual projects, or for the endowment fund. If no designation is made, it will be split 75% to the annual project, and 25% to endowment.

- Checks written to the Women’s Giving Circle of Defiance County/United Way. Through a partnership with the United Way, checks will be received and dispersed based on the above allocations (75 %/25%), or as specifically designated by the donor. The United Way staff will send the 25% (or as designated) to The Defiance Area Foundation along with a detailed donor list. Benefits of Membership:
- Participation in an organization of women empowering women.
- Helping women make strategic and informed decisions about their philanthropy, which allows for greater impact than can happen individually.
- Invitation to the Circle’s meetings and other special programs.
- Networking opportunities with people of shared values.
- Eligibility for membership on the advisory board and standing committees of the Circle.

📚 Small books. Big conversations. 💜

The Women’s Giving Circle was proud to sponsor the children’s books provided at the Defiance County Drug Free Coalition’s Overdose Awareness Event.

Events like this remind us that strengthening our community happens in many ways, including giving families resources that encourage connection, communication and healthy conversations with our kids.

Pictured are WGC Advisory Board Member Deb Hench and Emily Muta of Defiance College, helping share these resources with local families.

We’re grateful to the Defiance County Drug Free Coalition and all of the organizations and volunteers who came together to raise awareness, provide support and remind families that they are not alone.

Another wonderful example of how collective giving can make a meaningful difference right here at home. 💜📖

Today, we remember a woman whose legacy reaches far beyond the music. 🤍

Dolly Parton gave the world an incredible collection of songs, but she also gave millions of children something just as powerful: the gift of books, imagination and the belief that they could dream big.

Through our support of United Way of Defiance County, the Women’s Giving Circle has been proud to help support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and its mission of putting books into the hands and homes of children right here in our community.

There is something especially meaningful today about knowing that a piece of Dolly’s legacy lives on every time a child opens one of those books. 📚

Thank you, Dolly, for using your life and your success to make the world a little brighter, kinder and full of possibility.

Your music will live on. Your generosity will live on. And generations of little dreamers will continue turning the pages. 🤍

Thank you, Dolly.

More than lunch. It’s community in action.

Last week, the Women’s Giving Circle was proud to sponsor lunches for 73 children attending Kindergarten Camp at schools across Defiance County! 🍎🥪🍓

And behind every lunch were some pretty wonderful people. Our WGC volunteers gathered to wash, chop, pack and prepare meals so our newest little students could focus on making friends, learning routines and getting excited for their first big year of school. ✏️📚

We love seeing generosity come full circle: local women giving their time and resources to support local kids and families.

Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped make Kindergarten Camp a little sweeter! 💚

This is what community looks like!

We love seeing our youngest learners starting their school journey with smiles, new friendships, and a whole lot of excitement! Kindergarten Camp is such a wonderful way to help little ones feel comfortable, confident, and ready for their first big year. 🖤💛

The Women’s Giving Circle is proud to celebrate the people and programs throughout our community that help our children learn, grow, and thrive. 🌱

Wishing these little campers an amazing kindergarten year! ✏️📚

💗 Small gifts. Big ripple.

That’s the beauty of a Giving Circle.

When women come together and combine their generosity, individual gifts become something much bigger: support for local organizations, opportunities for students, resources for families, and meaningful change right here in our community.

The Women’s Giving Circle is proof that you don’t have to make a difference alone. Together, our giving goes further.

We’re proud to invest in the people and organizations doing good work throughout our community, and we’re excited for all that’s still ahead. 💕

💜 Comfort in the Everyday Things

The Women’s Giving Circle is proud to provide a $170 grant to the House of Ruth to purchase much-needed towels for the individuals and families they serve.

Sometimes the greatest needs are the simplest ones. A clean towel, personal care items, and other everyday essentials can provide a small sense of comfort and dignity for someone navigating a difficult season.

Pictured are Sara Cantu of the House of Ruth and Abby Wolfrum, Women’s Giving Circle Board Member, presenting the grant.

This is what collective giving can do. Every contribution to the Women’s Giving Circle becomes part of something bigger, allowing us to respond to needs both large and small throughout our community. 💜

🎒👟 Stepping Into a New School Year!

The Women’s Giving Circle is excited to award $1,000 to Children’s Lantern to help provide shoes for their Back-to-School Bash!

Starting a new school year should be exciting, and something as simple as a new pair of shoes can help a child walk into that first day feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. 💜

Pictured are Daisy Moening of Children’s Lantern and Carol Leach, Women’s Giving Circle Board Member, presenting the grant.

We love seeing our members’ collective giving turn into something so tangible for local children. Many women. One circle. A lasting impact.

💜 Supporting Our Neighbors, One Need at a Time

The Women’s Giving Circle is proud to award a $500 grant to Zion Lutheran Church’s InnKeepers Pantry!

These funds will help provide paper and hygiene products as well as support a community meal, helping the pantry continue meeting practical, everyday needs right here in our community.

Pictured are Chris Yoder, Women’s Giving Circle Board Member, and Cindy Wendell of Zion Lutheran Church.

We’re grateful for organizations like Zion Lutheran Church that see a need and step in to serve. This is exactly what the Women’s Giving Circle is all about: women coming together, pooling our resources, and making a meaningful difference close to home. 💜

🌻 Hello, August!

A new month always brings new opportunities to make a difference.

One of the things that makes our community so special is the generosity of the women who choose to invest in others. Through the Women’s Giving Circle, every act of kindness, every membership, and every grant helps strengthen the organizations that make our community a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

As we head into the final stretch of summer, we’re grateful for each member who believes that when women come together with purpose, incredible things happen.

Here’s to another month of giving, growing, and making an impact… together. 💙 Are you ready to join us??

Thank you, Defiance Public Library System, for partnering with us on this important initiative. Every person deserves access to essential hygiene products, and we’re honored to help make our community a little more welcoming, one library at a time. 💚📚

Thank you to the Women's Giving Circle of Defiance County for helping make our libraries even more welcoming!

The Women’s Giving Circle has generously donated menstrual product dispensers and a year’s supply of refills for each of our Defiance Public Library System locations. These resources will be available in our restrooms to help ensure that patrons have access to essential products when they need them. 💚
