🚁 Last Week’s Training 🚁

Liberty Fire District members trained with Air Methods and Walton Air Rescue, Florida on landing-zone setup and aircraft operations.

The training covered selecting and securing a safe landing zone, identifying hazards, communicating with incoming aircraft, and safely operating around medical helicopters.

We appreciate the Air Methods and Walton Air Rescue crews for sharing their knowledge and helping prepare our firefighters for incidents requiring rapid air-medical transport.

Continuous training helps ensure our members are ready when every second counts.

🚨 MUTUAL AID STRUCTURE FIRE 🚨

Liberty Fire District is responding to assist Walton County Fire Rescue with a structure fire on Matthews Road, off Highway 2 East.

Please use caution in the area, watch for emergency vehicles, and yield to responding apparatus. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

🚨 STRUCTURE FIRE – MUTUAL AID RESPONSE 🚨

Liberty Fire District is responding to a mutual aid request from Walton County Fire Rescue for a reported structure fire in the Girl Scout Road area.

🔥 VEHICLE FIRE | MUTUAL-AID RESPONSE 🔥

At approximately 10:16 PM Saturday August 23rd 2026, Liberty Fire District was dispatched to assist Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida District 11 with a reported vehicle fire in the 8000 block of Bob Sikes Road.

Attack 7 arrived in under eight minutes to find a Kia SUV fully involved in flames in the middle of the roadway. Liberty firefighters immediately stretched a handline and launched an aggressive fire attack, bringing the blaze under control within minutes—before the arrival of the remaining responding units.

WCFR personnel and Rescue 7 arrived shortly afterward and assisted Liberty crews with overhaul and extinguishing the remaining hot spots.

The fire resulted from a traffic crash. Although no occupants were at the scene when firefighters arrived, all occupants were later accounted for.

Bob Sikes Road remained closed while firefighters operated and the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash. Liberty Fire District later transferred command of the scene to WCFR and returned to service.

Liberty Fire District responded with Attack 7, Rescue 7, and four firefighters.

**VEHICLE FIRE — KINGS LAKE ROAD**

At approximately 8:15 p.m., Liberty Fire District was dispatched with mutual aid from Walton County Fire Rescue District 11 to a reported vehicle fire on Kings Lake Road.

Liberty Fire District arrived within minutes of being dispatched and found a vehicle fully involved in the treeline following an apparent single-vehicle collision with a tree. No driver or occupants were located at the scene.

Firefighters immediately deployed a hose line and had water on the fire less than one minute after arriving. The fire was brought under control and extinguished within approximately four minutes, allowing Mutual Aid to be canceled before arrival.

Nine Liberty Fire District personnel responded with Rescue 7, Attack 7, Engine 7, and Tanker 7.

Kings Lake Road was temporarily affected while firefighters operated at the scene. After completing extinguishment and checking for remaining hazards, Liberty Fire District terminated command and turned the scene over to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

The circumstances surrounding the crash and the location of the vehicle’s driver remain under investigation by FHP.

Today, Liberty Fire District proudly recognizes the men and women who volunteer their time to protect and serve our community.

Our volunteer firefighters answer the call at all hours—leaving their families, jobs, meals, and everyday lives behind when their neighbors need help. Whether responding to a fire, medical emergency, vehicle crash, severe weather event, or another call for assistance, they serve because they care about the community they call home.

Being a volunteer firefighter takes dedication, sacrifice, training, and a willingness to serve others. We are incredibly grateful for every member of Liberty Fire District and for the families who support them behind the scenes.

To our volunteers: Thank you for answering the call and for everything you do for Liberty and the surrounding communities.
