Florida's new Driver License and ID card design is here!

Beginning September 30th, newly designed Florida driver licenses and identification cards will be rolling out at Tax Collector's offices across the state.

The updated design includes several Florida-inspired features, including the Castillo de San Marcos, the Florida orange incorporated as the “o” in “Florida”, the Discovery Space Shuttle, and the alligator featured in the REAL ID star.

Already have a valid Florida driver license or ID card? No action is needed. Current credentials will remain valid until they expire.

Learn about all the new features of the new design at: https://www.flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/newdl/

Beginning tomorrow, newly designed Florida driver licenses and identification cards will begin rolling out at service centers across the state!

The new credential remains one of the most secure over the counter identification options available today and proudly pays homage to Florida’s history with design features, including:

-An image of Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fortress in the continental United States, located in St. Augustine;
-The Florida orange is cleverly integrated as the “o” in “Florida”;
-On the back, a tribute to Florida’s Space Coast showing the Discovery Space Shuttle; and
-A Florida alligator incorporated into the REAL ID star in the top right corner of call cards.

Florida residents are not required to replace their existing driver license or identification card. All valid credentials will remain in circulation and be phased out over time.

Visit flhsmv.gov/newDL to find out more information about our next driver license!
