DeKalb County Community Action Program

DeKalb County Community Action Program Community Action is a program within Family Service Agency dedicated to serving low-income families.

We are a program within Family Service Agency of DeKalb County. The focus of Community Action is to help families residing in DeKalb County who are experiencing poverty achieve and maintain a higher level of self-sustainability. We work with families to achieve this outcome through a variety of services. The first step in working with a family is to complete a thorough assessment. Our family suppo

rt specialists schedule a meeting and sit down with families to discuss their overall situation in detail. During this process, the family support specialist and family get a sense of what the urgent needs are and how best to address the needs. It is then determined what services offered through Community Action would benefit the family best. Since self sustainability is the outcome, families benefit most from our ongoing comprehensive support services. Comprehensive support services consist of the family and family support specialist intensively work on setting goals and making action plans to meet these goals. Incentives may be available for those successfully progressing in the program. Learn more about our FSA's other services on our website: www.fsadekalbcounty.org.

🌈 Happy Pride Month! Today is June 1st, and as we celebrate love and authenticity, we also want to shine a light on the crucial need for safety and support within the LGBTQIA+ community.

True pride means ensuring everyone can live free from harm. Unfortunately, members of the community face disproportionately high rates of domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA):

Intimate Partner Violence: Over 44% of le***an women and 61% of bisexual women experience DV or stalking in their lifetime.

Impact on Men: Approximately 26% of gay men and 37% of bisexual men face intimate partner violence.

Transgender Individuals: Nearly 47% of transgender individuals are survivors of sexual assault at some point in their lifetime.

Together We Thrive. No one should have to walk through trauma alone. 💜

Our CAP Team proclaiming their ❤️ for Community Action! We spent Wednesday visiting our Northern & Southern regions of DeKalb County to remind the residents that we are here and we can help! It was a fun afternoon getting the word out and visiting Village Halls, Public Libraries and other places we could provide fliers.
