These six incredible students are pursuing degrees across four colleges and universities while continuing to give back through volunteerism, leadership, and service throughout our community. We are so excited to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished and everything still ahead! ❤️

The Fall 2026 CSBG Scholarship application is officially OPEN! Scholarship funding is available to eligible DeKalb County students pursuing higher education.

Are you a senior seeking opportunities to get connected? Do you long for a sense of belonging? If so, join us for an informational session aimed at combatting isolation and curbing loneliness.

This session will feature 8 local agencies and organizations, each with powerful anecdotes to combat isolation.

🎒 42+ STUDENTS. 21 GENEROUS DONORS & SPONSORS. 14 DAYS. ❤️

What started as a small Community Action initiative with a goal of supporting 15 students turned into something WAY bigger!

In just 14 days, Adopt-a-Student was launched, sponsored, shopped for, collected, and distributed, ultimately benefiting 42+ students from all five Family Service Agency programs!

Students received backpacks, school supplies, new clothing, after-school snacks, and plenty of personalized extras to help them start the year feeling ready and excited. ✏️📚

A HUGE thank you to every individual donor and sponsor who made this possible, with a special shoutout to Oak Crest Retirement Center, Tate & Lyle, The Suter Company, DeKalb Elks, Lehan’s, and Sycamore Rotary for their generous contributions!

And finally, thank you to Family Support Specialist Theresa for throwing the idea out there and our Director of Community Action, Rylie, for running with it and pulling the entire program together in just two weeks!

Our first year of Adopt-a-Student blew our original goal out of the water. 💙

The Fall 2026 DeKalb County CSBG Scholarship application is officially open!

The scholarship provides up to $2,500 per recipient to support tuition, books, and other eligible education-related expenses. Housing expenses are not eligible.

Applicants must:
Be a DeKalb County, Illinois resident
Be attending an eligible college, university, vocational school, or training program in Illinois
Be pursuing an eligible certificate, associate, bachelor’s, or master’s program
Meet CSBG income eligibility requirements
Complete the application, required essays, eligibility documentation, and intake process
Not have already received CSBG Scholarship funding during 2026
U.S. citizenship is not required.

FSA’s Youth Programming is seeking interns for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027! Gain hands-on experience supporting youth and young adults ages 6–24 through social-emotional learning, prevention programming, community outreach, mentoring, creative projects, fundraising events, and more.

Internship experiences may be tailored to your degree focus, interests, and academic requirements. Those willing to commit to 12+hours a week, for 10+ weeks, may also qualify for set stipend amounts!

If you’re looking for meaningful experience in a supportive, creative, and active learning environment, we’d love to hear from you!
