BACK TO SCHOOL BUZZ! 💰💵💲

There are so many great things happening as our 26-27 school year gets rolling.

This week, Old National Bank dropped by to talk to third-graders about the money cycle as part of an effort to teach and promote financial literacy among D428 students.

Through role-playing, the students learned where money comes from, what banks are for, financial safety, and responsibility.

It was a hard-fought game with a friendly wager. In the end, Sycamore got the FNBO Challenge 'W.' Mr. Hueramo is a man of his word. Here's to a great fall season of sport and activities. We'll also look forward to January's challenge and a special Barb shirt for Dr. Campbell's wardrobe!

Today at 4pm, the DHS Barbs take on the Sycamore Spartans in the FNBO Challenge at Huskie Stadium, the home of the NIU Huskies! The Barbs gathered in the gym at DeKalb High School to rally with the team, the band, cheer, and dance squads all gathering to pump each other up for a great game. And don't forget, when the Barbs win, the Superintendent from Sycamore has to wear a Barbs jersey for a day! Go Barbs!

🎒📚✏Employees from Ryder Systems of DeKalb and several vendors from the DeKalb Farmers Market collected and donated supplies for students and teachers this year. On behalf of Board of Education President Chris Boyes, Superintendent Hueramo, and our entire D428 team, THANK YOU for your generosity! The Back-to-School market had to be canceled because of bad weather, but there's still time to support the many wonderful local vendors who make our community special!

🏈👀There's a second epic challenge happening this Friday night at the FNBO Challenge game, and the stakes are high! Our Superintendent, Mr. Billy Hueramo, and Sycamore Community School District 427 Superintendent Dr. Kristen Campbell have a friendly wager going - the losing team’s Superintendent has to wear the winning school’s shirt for a day next week! Back to School Buzz!

So many positive things are happening as we begin our new school year. Among those positive things are the beautiful gardens that our schools have been growing. The students worked to plant them with help from staff memebers at the end of last school year, and by the time this year began, they were fully grown, bloomed, and producing fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
