The Border Organization leaders from Maverick County and City of Eagle Pass held their first Accountability Session on February 18, 2026. In attendance were 11 of the 16 candidates running for county judge or county commissioner precinct 1, 2, or 4. There were 90 to 100 people in attendance to hear the candidates answer the The Border Organization leaders’ questions concerning several issues.
The issues that were presented were; rescinding the Puerto Verde Resolution / the Sheriff's Department need for Collective Bargaining, better pay, more deputies, and acquiring a solid budget / reopening the community center at the VFW Park in Chula Vista / returning control of the June Edwards Community Center, the Quemado Cemetary, and the Quemado Library to Quemado citizens / setting a consistent date and time for county commissioner's meetings / and meeting with leaders of The Border Organization on a regular basis.
Present at the session were candidates for county judge Mr. Jerry Morales, Mr. David Saucedo, Mr. Domingo Rodriques, and Mr. Ruben Camarillo. Not present was candidate Ramsey English Cantu. Candidates for commissioner Precinct 1 were Poleth Gonzalez and Yolanda Ramon. Not present was Mario Cruz. Candidates for commissioner Precinct 2 were Roxi Rios, Rosy Cantu, and Tom Cary. Candidates for commissioner Precinct 4 were Maribel Garcia Rodriquez and Alejandro Esquivel. Not present were Anilu Morales Gonzalez and Hector Canales and Lupe Negrete.
The Border Organization would like to thank all community members and candidates who attended the accountability session. All the candidates answers were documented with a yes , a no, or a wishy-washy. Just as the candidates committed with a yes to most questions, the Border Organization commits to getting the vote out and letting voters know how the candidates answered the questions. The Border Organization leaders will hold the elected officials accountable to their answers.
