🚒🇺🇸 A busy Memorial Day Weekend for your Delanco Fire Company 🇺🇸🚒

♦️ Later Sunday morning, Quint 1115 and Deputy 1101 responded to a church in the 300 block of Union Avenue for a reported gas odor. Crews identified the source, secured the gas piping, and placed it out of service for repairs. ⛪🛠️

♦️ Your Delanco Fire Company was also proud to participate in Delanco’s Memorial Day Parade. 🇺🇸 Our command vehicles led the line, followed by Antique 1953 Seagrave Engine 1111, Brush 1116, Engine 1112, Quint 1115 and Fire Police 1118. It was great seeing so many familiar faces out supporting the parade and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙

♦️ Yesterday afternoon on Memorial Day, Engine 1112 and Fire Police 1118 responded to The Crossings for an alarm activation. Crews investigated and cleared without incident. 🚨

♦️ Then around 8 PM last night, Quint 1115 and Fire Police 1118 responded to a building fire on South Pavilion Avenue in Riverside. Quint 1115 operated its aerial ladder at the rear of the building, supplied with water by Engine 1224 (Beverly), while FP 1118 handled traffic control at Lafayette & Pavilion and Scott & Bridgeboro. Units cleared around 10 PM after the fire was placed under control, with no injuries reported. 🚒💦 (Photos courtesy of Fire Department Photography)

♦️ And around 11 PM last night, because sleep is for the weary 😅, Deputy 1101 and Engine 1112 responded to a business on Creek Road for an alarm system activation. Crews located a broken sprinkler pipe and secured the system until repairs could be made. 💧🔧

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness secured the freedoms we enjoy each day.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, let us also take a moment to reflect on those who gave everything and the families who continue to carry their memory.

From all of us at the Delanco Township Fire Department, we thank and remember our fallen heroes.

❤️🤍💙 *We will never forget.*

At approximately 1800hrs, Delanco Fire Company and other mutual aid companies was dispatched to a reported house fire in the 700 Block of Coopertown Road, with the residence evacuated. A busy night last night for your volunteer fire company. Members of Delanco Fire Company were headed to the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center in the early evening for a scheduled live burn training exercise focused on automobile fires when they were dispatched to assist Burlington Township on a reported house fire. Engine 1112 responded as part of the mutual aid assignment and operated on scene with surrounding companies.

After clearing the incident, crews continued to the ESTC where they completed the planned live burn vehicle fire training alongside our partners from Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Co.. Training like this ensures our members stay ready for the types of emergencies we may face here at home.

Later in the evening, shortly after returning to town, crews were again dispatched—this time to Riverside Township for a reported building fire on Scott Street. Quint 1115 responded and assisted on scene, clearing the assignment around 11:30 PM.

From training to multiple mutual aid responses across the county, it was a busy night for our volunteers who continue to answer the call whenever needed. 🚒🔥

Just after 1:00 PM today, the Riverfront Task Force (Delanco, Riverside, and Beverly), along with multiple mutual aid companies, were dispatched to a reported house fire with flames showing from the roof in the Newton’s Landing section of Delanco. 🔥🚒

Delanco's Quint 1115 and Fire Police 1118 responded along with our mutual aid partners. Units arriving on location found solar panels fully involved with extension into the attic. Crews quickly stretched lines, placed water on the fire, and achieved a quick knockdown of the main body of fire.

Command of the incident was held by Chief 7000 B. Conard (Riverside).

The fire was placed under control at 1:38 PM, and thankfully there were no injuries to firefighters or occupants. ✅ The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burlington County Fire Marshal’s Office.

During the incident, Lexi N. from Delran EMS rescued a baby squirrel from the scene 🐿️. After being issued a temporary probationary firefighter helmet (see photo below), we think our newest recruit still has a little training ahead before responding on the next call.

While we appreciate the extra help, we can’t rely on the squirrel alone—that’s nuts🥜. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, now is a great time to step up and help protect your community. The Delanco Fire Company is always looking for volunteers. We can’t do this without you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Walnuttown Fire and Rescue (Berks County) following the tragic Line of Duty Deaths of Fire Chief Jeffory Buck and Assistant Chief Robert Shick, Jr.

Both chiefs were killed Saturday evening when their vehicle was struck by a driver while they were searching for a missing person. The driver involved is facing charges including homicide by vehicle while DUI.

We join the fire service community in honoring their many years of dedicated service and their ultimate sacrifice. We extend our deepest condolences to the Walnuttown Fire Company and the families of these two fallen heroes.
