Delano-resident Dale Weiman was recently recognized by the Delano City Council after being named one of Wright County’s Outstanding Senior Citizens of the Year, honoring his decades of volunteer service throughout the community.

Dale volunteers in a variety of ways across Wright County, including at the Delano Senior Center. He also cleans the grandstand before every home game for the Delano A’s and is a familiar, friendly face in our community.

A new downtown gathering space is taking shape at 2nd Street and Bridge Avenue!

The city-owned lot is being transformed into a downtown pocket park, creating another flexible space for residents, visitors, and community events.

The project will include a concrete patio with tables and chairs, limestone seating walls, and landscaping at the corner of Bridge Avenue and 2nd Street.

Funding for the project comes from the Park Dedication Fund. This fund is supported by fees paid as part of new development in Delano and, by state law, is reserved for park and trail improvements that help meet the needs created by community growth.

City Council approved the proposed layout on August 18, and work began the same week. This new space will provide another place to gather, relax, and enjoy downtown Delano!

This is a great opportunity for local organizations to share their mission, highlight volunteer opportunities, and connect with residents looking for ways to get involved in the Delano community.
