🔥 Mutual Aid Structure Fire with Esperance 🔥

🔔 Last night, on Monday 8/3 around 6pm the Delanson Fire Company was dispatched on a mutual aid assignment for a possible structure fire in the 2000 block of Creek Road

🚒 First arriving units encountered heavy smoke in the basement and worked quickly to keep the fire contained to that area

🧑‍🚒 8 members from Delanson responded to assist with extinguishment, overhaul, scene support, and firefighter decon

🤝 Strong work and collaboration by all responding agencies led to a positive outcome

***Official public comment from the Delanson Fire Company in regard to the amendment of fire protection contracts by the Town of Duanesburg***

The Delanson Fire Company provided written comment to the public hearing last night held at the Duanesburg Town Hall. Members of the Delanson Fire Company spent the night training on firefighting hose skills. The Delanson Fire Company conducts weekly drill every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

RE: Public hearing for amendment of fire protection contracts

Dear Supervisor Wenzel,

The Village of Delanson and Delanson Fire Company welcome with open arms the proposed changes to our fire protection contract. The increased reporting requirements will allow the Town to better understand the operations of its fire protection districts. Delanson fully believes in operational transparency with all stakeholders.

The value of response data in public safety cannot be understated. Delanson values operational data so greatly that in Spring 2022 we began shopping for a 3rd party RMS (Records Management System) vendor. That same year we made the investment into a 3rd party RMS, going live on January 1st, 2023. We have been electronically collecting response data, creating reports, and analyzing the reports since that date. We're currently in our 4th calendar year of data collection and reporting. All additional reporting requirements proposed in the amended contract are standard reports the Village of Delanson and Delanson Fire Company already prepare.

Although not yet required contractually, in the spirit of transparency, enclosed with this letter are the proposed amended reporting requirements for 2026 Q1 and Q2. Please ensure that this letter and accompanying reports are included in the official record of this public hearing.

Let this letter also serve as the formal declaration of interest from the Village of Delanson and Delanson Fire Company to provide fire protection and first response EMS to the entirety of Town of Duanesburg Fire Protection District #3 in 2027. We look forward to engaging in contract award discussions soon.
