The WEB Program (“Where Everybody Belongs”) is back for its second year at Duanesburg Jr.-Sr. High School!

WEB pairs 7th- and 8th-grade student leaders with incoming 6th graders to help make the transition from DES to the Jr.-Sr. High School a little easier. After completing training last week, WEB Leaders welcomed the incoming 6th graders for orientation, giving tours, answering questions and helping students get comfortable in their new surroundings.

HS math teacher Kristina Crane and HS English teacher Laura Hopkins serve as co-advisors of the program and emphasize the value of the lessons learned by both student leaders and their mentees—with older students developing leadership skills and younger students building confidence as they navigate the transition to high school.

We’re excited to see our students continue to build connections, confidence and leadership skills through WEB! 💙

Join our community partners for National Night Out tomorrow, Tuesday, August 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Shafer Park. Hosted by the Schenectady Sheriff’s Office, this free, family-friendly event is part of a nationwide effort to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Enjoy a block party atmosphere with family safety activities, community engagement, and opportunities to connect with local public safety agencies.

NOTE - Organizers are promoting fireworks at the end of the evening. Loud noises can affect both people and pets, and we want to ensure our neighbors near Shafer Park have ample time to prepare for Tuesday night’s festivities.
