Today, TDFD EMS members participated in a K9 Point of Care course taught by Operational K9 Medical Team of Wisconsin. Members learned about how to medically care for operational K9 dogs in emergency situations. A huge thank you to the instructors at OPK9 of WI for taking time out of their Saturday to share their knowledge!

This morning members attended a Wildland Firefighting Class held at our firehouse. Material consisted of strategies and tactics for wildland fires as well as what the Wisconsin DNR is able to offer if we were to utilize them as a resource on an incident. They also taught many other wildland related topics throughout the day. We’d like to give a big thank you to Marc from the DNR for teaching the class!

- Mass Casualty Drill -

This morning, we participated in a large-scale interdivisional MABAS Mass Casualty Incident Drill alongside our partners at Milwaukee Fire Department and departments from across Southeast Wisconsin.

A job well done by our members! Congratulations on your award!

Dr. Sean Marquis, Mercyhealth Prehospital Emergency Services Center, and Zoll Medical took some time tonight to recognize and appreciate the heroic efforts and excellent patient care services that several EMS and fire rescue members of the Town of Delavan Fire & Rescue displayed earlier this Summer that saved the life of a patient who experienced sudden cardiac arrest requiring advanced care management to help revive and stabilize the patient prior to reaching the hospital. After receiving additional cardiovascular care at Mercyhealth Hospital & Trauma Center in Janesville, the patient was able to go home with their family about a week later. Thank you to the Town of Delavan Fire & Rescue and all our prehospital providers for all you do day after day to truly make a difference and improve the outcomes of people in our community.

Great training last night with an acquired structure! The main focus was drafting and defensive operations. A special thank you to City of Delavan Fire Department for spending the evening training with us!
