THE EARLY PELICAN RETURN

Due to the early warm up this year, the pelicans visited Delavan Lake earlier than normal. After a long migration and the sudden drop in temperatures we've experienced this year, it is possible you may see a deceased pelican or two around the lake. This is completely natural and not an indicator of water quality on the lake. If you see a deceased pelican, please do not attempt to retrieve it as they can carry various diseases. Please notify the Sanitary District of its location and we will take care of the disposal as soon as possible.

RELEASE OF WILD CELERY

Wild Celery is releasing early this year from the bottom of the lake to repopulate to different areas of the lake. If you look, some of the plants still have their roots attached. They always end up on the wind driven side of the lake. The early release is due to the low lake level and above average water temperatures which is caused by the lower water level. Typically Wild Celery will release each year toward the end of August.
