US Supreme Court decision stands on the side of what is right. Decision was made at around 1pm EST today.

The court said states may require members of the Electoral College to vote for the presidential candidates they had promised to support.

County elections officials had warned the state deadline would likely disenfranchise thousands of voters.

Mail In Ballots are still being processed. Several thousand applications were filed today, the final day to submit them. The Election Bureau's goal is to have the last of the mail in ballots in the mail on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, mail in ballots must be received by the County by 8 p.m. on election day to be counted. If you do not receive your ballot until Friday or even Monday, there is very little likelihood that you can return it by mail and have it delivered on time. The good news is that in DELCO, there are several ways to have your vote counted even if you cannot MAIL your ballot back by June 2nd:

1. Return your completed ballot in the sealed return envelope in person to the Delaware County Government Center (201 W. Front St., Media, PA) Monday- Friday from 8:30a.m to 4:30p.m., Saturday from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. and on Election Day from 8:30a.m. to 8:00p.m.

2. Return your completed ballot in the sealed return envelope to any polling location on Election Day where there will be drop boxes while the polling locations are open. These drop boxes will be positioned just inside the polling location, where they are under observation by the poll workers. Voters seeking to drop their mail in ballots will not be required to check in with the workers. Residents are asked to observe social distancing when dropping off a ballot to a polling location.

3. The County is planning to have a mobile drop box visit retirement communities on Election Day to collect ballots that were received too late to be returned by mail for those residents who cannot leave the facility. The County has been reaching out to senior communities to determine where this mobile drop box would be helpful for residents on lockdown.

4. Anyone who requested an absentee or mail-in ballot and did not receive it in time or who does not want to return it in one of the ways noted above, can go to their polling location and ask for a provisional ballot. The ballot will be put in an envelope and then counted when the County Election Bureau confirms that the requested mail-in ballot was not returned. Since all ballots are being counted centrally, provisional ballots will likely be included in the initial results.

Be ready. Get ready. Stay ready and informed.

Delaware County continues to prepare for the June 2 primary election, including putting safety precautions into place for in-person voting and sending absentee and mail-in ballots to residents.

We’ve got a job to do. Let’s get busy people.

We’ve got a job to do. Let’s get busy people.

There is a large contingent of people working on processing ballots at Delaware County Government Center all weekend. As of noon today, the County Election Bureau has processed 61,000 applications and has mailed out 48,000. (Ballots were mailed Saturday or before to people who applied and were approved by May 14.) There will be a huge number of ballots going out on Tuesday from the work done this weekend.

The applications for ballots so far, already in excess of 80,000, are double what was forecast for this primary before the COVID-19 public health emergency. We expect more will be submitted before the deadline of 5 pm on Tuesday, May 26.

Tuesday, May 26, and Wed, May 27, will be days where we need large number of people to process the ballots for mailing. If you can work or volunteer for a few hours, please let me know. It is all about making sure everyone gets the chance to vote. And, yes, anyone who has not sent in a mail in ballot can vote in person on Election Day, Tuesday, June 2nd. (Those who requested mail in ballots but did not return them will have to vote a provisional ballot.)
