The Delaware County Recorder's Vet ID program returns to the Delaware County Fair next Monday, Sept. 21 thru Friday, Sept. 25 in the Fairgrounds Coliseum. This popular program enables Ohio veterans to obtain a Document Identification Card -- also known as a Vet ID card -- that can be used instead of carrying a certified copy of their DD 214. An update from ODOT:

As you are aware U.S. 42 between Delaware and Ashley has been reduced to 1 lane due to the condition of the culvert that passes Sugar Run. District 6 has worked expediently to prepare contract plans to replace this structure this upcoming fall using a Type 3 emergency contract. We have recently purchased an 87x136 inch concrete elliptical conduit through contracting that is scheduled to be delivered around November 4th. I want to make the county, townships, and village aware this work will require a full closure of U.S. 42 to complete the work. We would expect the work to begin late October/Early November timeframe and we have included a 30 maximum closure to construct the new conduit with a completion date no later than December 4th. There will have to be coordination between our selected contractor and CSXT railroad. We’re hopeful this coordination will be smooth and we can stick to this schedule.

During tonight’s quarterly DCTA meeting, we heard updates on the budget commission from Auditor Kaitsa, Treasurer O’Brien, and Prosecutor Schiffel. We also heard from Delaware Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board, Delaware County Transit, Delaware County Health District, and Delaware County Developmental Disabilities. Our legislative committee gave us an excellent update. It was great to hear about things happening in our county, townships, & state. Next meeting is December 10, 2026. The meal was all done by local trustees & it was so good! Thank you all! See you in December.
