The 2.0 mill levy that has supported DCBDD’s services in Delaware County since 2011 stops collecting on December 31, 2026. A new 1.8 mill levy has been proposed to take its place. The new levy would be an increase of $2.35 per month over what is paid now for every $100,000 in appraised value. This levy provides 90% of DCBDD's funding. Questions about what the levy funds? Meet Caiden!

A college senior, student-athlete, and leader on and off the mat, Caiden is preparing to graduate summa cm laude from Otterbein University with a double major and three minors, all while competing on the wrestling team.

Blind since early childhood after surviving a rare eye cancer, Caiden built his independence at the Ohio State School for the Blind, where he discovered a love for wrestling that would shape his path. He went on to make history as the first blind wrestler in Ohio to qualify for the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament, facing top-ranked competition with determination and grit.

Today, Caiden balances academics, athletics, music, faith, and writing, bringing creativity and heart to everything he does. With support from DCBDD along the way, he continues to build independence and prepare for what is next, including plans for law school.

What stands out most is not just what Caiden has accomplished, but how he keeps moving forward, focused on what is possible.

Everyone has a story to tell, and Ashley is sharing hers.

Ashley, a participant in DCBDD's Access to Leadership program, recently created her own video sharing her experiences in her own words.

DCBDD staff received training through My Life, My Story, a storytelling workshop series organized by the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council and led by Dr. Becca Monteleone from the University of Toledo. Staff then brought what they learned back to DCBDD, leading storytelling workshops with Access to Leadership participants.

Through these workshops, participants explored how to share their experiences, express themselves, and use storytelling as a tool for advocacy.
