Ramsaysburg Historic Homestead

Ramsaysburg Historic Homestead The Ramsaysburg Homestead is a historical park along the Delaware River located in Knowlton Township, Warren County, NJ

The Ramsaysburg Homestead is a historical park. These twelve wooded acres along the Delaware River, just south of the Delaware Water Gap, are leased by the Township of Knowlton from the State of New Jersey Green Acres program. The public may access the river here for fishing or to launch small watercraft such as canoes or kayaks. The property and the structures on it are the remains of a fifty-acr

e tract settled in 1795 by Irish immigrants James and Adam Ramsay in what was then New Jersey’s northwestern frontier. An earlier tavern continued by the Ramsays, a store established by them and eventually a post office, a lumberyard, a sawmill, a storehouse, a blacksmith shop, tenant houses and other buildings, either built or acquired by the Ramsays, comprised the principal elements of the homestead and hamlet bearing the Ramsay name. The buildings that you see here—a tavern, barn, cottage, smokehouse and shed—were built from 1800 to 1870, and represent the activity that occurred at the homestead during its heyday.

The River Runner Shuttle is back in action! 🚐🚣‍♀️

Provided through a partnership with MCTA, this shuttle is free for riders. Hikers, bikers, and paddlers can enjoy an easy-to-use shuttle to many different points along the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River and McDade Recreational Trail.

To utilize the shuttle, visitors should park at their end point and take a ride to their starting point up. This allows for an easy, round-trip adventure without worrying about shuttling vehicles back and forth.

Visitors are responsible for loading their own gear before boarding the shuttle.

Pets are permitted on the shuttle as long as they are friendly, under control, and on a leash at all times. Pups love their river trips too!

The River Runner provides service on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

For more information on the shuttle and to look at a schedule of stops, visit www.gomcta.com/trip.php

Tree planting sponsored by the Knowlton kindergarten classes!

Instructed by their teachers and Warren County Pollinator Protectors!

The class collected and counted pennies to buy one Red Oak. Each student took turns shoveling dirt in as instructed, and learned all the aspects of tree planting.

They also brought painted rocks to adorn the tree base, nestled in the Ramsaysburg wildflower field.
