On July 16, 2026, Delhi Police arrested William J. Schenkel, 55, of Delhi, following an incident at a residence on Phoebe Lane in the Village of Delhi.

Police allege that Schenkel entered and remained inside the residence after being directed by the resident to leave. Schenkel allegedly continued arguing with the resident and attempted to re-enter the residence after being removed.

Schenkel was charged with Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §140.10, and Harassment in the Second Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §240.26(3).

Schenkel was processed at the Delhi Police Department and transported to the Delaware County Jail for centralized arraignment.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

LIAM P. MCGUIRE
07/14/2026
On July 14, 2026, Delhi Police arrested Liam P. McGuire, 43, of Delhi, following an investigation into a report of a possibly intoxicated driver.

Police received a 911 report of a male who appeared to be intoxicated leaving a local business and subsequently located and stopped the reported vehicle on Main Street. During the investigation, officers observed indicators of intoxication and attempted to administer standardized field sobriety tests.

McGuire was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, in violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law §1192(3). The charge was elevated to a felony based upon a previous conviction for Driving While Intoxicated within the preceding ten years.

McGuire was processed and issued an Appearance Ticket directing him to appear in court at a later date.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ASHLEY A. BELFANCE

On July 8, 2026 the Delhi Police served a summons to Ashley A. Belfance, 41, of Harpersfield, following an investigation conducted by the Delaware County Department of Social Services Welfare Fraud Unit.

The investigation alleges that Belfance submitted an application for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefi ts that contained false information regarding her employment and wages. Investigators further allege that, as a result, Belfance received more than $3,000 in SNAP benefi ts to which she was not entitled between November 2024 and May 2025.

Belfance was charged with Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §158.15, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §175.35.

Belfance was issued a Criminal Summons directing her to appear in court at a later date.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On July 4, 2026, Delhi Police arrested Brittani P. Storrs, 32, of Delhi, following a traffic stop on Andes Road.

During the traffic stop, offi cers conducted an investigation and, with Storrs' consent, searched the vehicle. The investigation resulted in the discovery of suspected controlled substances inside the vehicle. Subsequent testing using the department’s TruNarc narcotics analyzer indicated the presence of co***ne.

Storrs was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §220.03.

Storrs was processed at the Delhi Police Department, issued an Appearance Ticket, and released to appear in court at a later date.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On July 4, 2026, Delhi Police arrested Richard D. Robinson, 44, of Delhi, following a traffic stop on Andes Road.

During the traffic stop, offi cers conducted an investigation that resulted in the discovery of controlled substances inside the vehicle. Subsequent testing of the substances using the department’s TruNarc narcotics analyzer indicated the presence of co***ne and methamphetamine.

Robinson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §220.06, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, in violation of New York State Penal Law §220.03.

Robinson was processed at the Delhi Police Department and transported to the Delaware County Jail for centralized arraignment.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Community Notice
Village of Delhi Camera System

There have recently been questions and comments regarding the cameras located throughout the Village of Delhi, with some mistakenly identifying them as "Flock" cameras. We'd like to provide some clarification.

The Village of Delhi does not operate a Flock Safety camera system. Our street cameras are part of a Turing Vision system, with three camera locations along Main Street that record public streets and other public areas. These cameras have been in place for over a year. In addition, the Village has maintained security cameras for many years at Village Hall, Hoyt Park (including the basketball court and parking lot), and other Village facilities.

The purpose of these cameras is straightforward: to enhance public safety and assist in criminal and public safety investigations. They have been instrumental in helping the Village of Delhi Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff's Office, and SUNY Delhi University Police investigate missing person cases, recover stolen vehicles, identify suspects in hit-and-run accidents, solve numerous shoplifting cases, and assist with many other incidents within the Village. In many of these instances, cases likely would have remained unresolved without the video evidence.

The Village does not automatically share video or data collected by these cameras. Access to recordings is controlled, and video is only provided to outside agencies when there is a specific investigative need or other lawful request.

These cameras are directed at public streets and public spaces where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. Their purpose is to improve public safety, assist investigators, and help protect residents, businesses, and visitors to our community.

We hope this information helps answer questions about the Village's camera system. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the Village of Delhi Police Department.

On June 30, 2026, the Delhi Village Police Department arrested Trenton B. Shelton, 19, of no fixed address, charging him with Trespass and Petit Larceny under the New York State Penal Law.

The charges stem from an investigation in which Shelton is accused of remaining on posted property after being directed to leave by the property owner. Shelton is further accused of stealing a "No Trespassing" sign from the property.

Shelton was processed by the Delhi Village Police Department and released on Appearance Tickets directing him to appear before the Village of Delhi Court at a later date.

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

JUVENILE ARREST
06/23/2026

On June 23, 2026, the Delhi Village Police Department issued a Juvenile Appearance Ticket to a 13-year-old female from Delhi charging her with Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, a violation of New York State Alcoholic Beverage Control Law.

Following an investigation, the juvenile was released to a parent/guardian and directed to appear before the Delaware County Probation Department at a later date.

Because this matter involves a juvenile, no further identifying information will be released.

The charge is an accusation, and the individual is presumed innocent unless and until proven responsible in accordance with applicable law.
