Good Morning. NO BURNING will be allowed today. We are under a high fire danger for the next couple days. If you burned recently, please go double check to make sure those fires are completely out. We would greatly appreciate it. The weather will be perfect for rekindles & we don't want any of those. Our emergency services had an active weekend and would appreciate a break!! Please no burning and double check recently burned. Thank you!

What a crazy evening & into the early hours of this morning. That wind was relentless. Multiple fires in the county lead to multiple agencies being called to help tackle. And tackle....we did!! So incredibly proud to be a part of amazing team of emergency personnel, volunteer & paid. Great teamwork!!

FIRE REPORT for Jackson Co, Ks 03/10/2025

Sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

The rangeland fire danger index will be in the extreme category this afternoon.

Extreme fire danger means that fires start quickly...spread furiously and burn intensely. All fires are potentially serious. All outdoor burning should be avoided in areas with extreme fire danger.

We are NOT allowing burning today, please call 785-364-3123 before starting your burn.

Remember that your permits expired Dec 31, 2023. If you don't have one for 2024-2025 year yet you can pick one up at any fire dept in Jackson county.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a north wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

The rangeland fire danger index will be in the very high category this afternoon.

Very high fire danger means...fire control will be very difficult and require extended effort. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A big thank you to Bryce Haverkamp with the Kansas Forest Service for the basic chain saw operations class at the station and some time in the tree line teaching us to fell trees the proper way. A lot of time during grass season, we have trees in the tree lines that catch on fire, and they have to come down. This training provided us with the tools and knowledge to do this safely. Thanks again.

Please join us on Saturday, Oct 7th for our fire station breakfast from 7-11 a.m. We also will be drawing for both grills that day around 11 am, at the end of breakfast. If you need a raffle ticket, please reach out to one of our Delia firefighters or we will still be selling tickets at breakfast until 10:30 a.m. We are still working towards building a new fire station, someday, it will be true.
