Thanks to everyone who joined us in Elm Avenue Town Park for National Night Out! Jess, Sean, Charlie, Jeremy and our entire team loved telling everyone about DBEMS. We gave away a record number of squeezy squishy ambulances and DBEMS ducks. We can't wait until next year and we're going to have to order a lot more ducks!

Tonight it was our pleasure to recognize Lieutenant Jessica Yankulin as the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS Responder of the Year.

Jessica Yankulin has been a major contributor to our EMS squad since joining Delmar-Bethlehem EMS in 2018. After achieving EMT – Crew Chief status, Jess quickly began mentoring new EMTs as a Field Training Officer. In that role Jess guides new EMTs and is often a final check-off before a trainee is elevated to Crew Chief.

In 2023, Jess accepted the additional responsibilities of becoming an Officer of the ambulance squad and is currently a Lieutenant and Assistant Director of Training. In addition to her training responsibilities, Jess has made the health of her colleagues a priority and has been the leader of a number of wellness programs.

Jess is a skilled and compassionate caregiver and sets an example for the kind of EMT you want to have caring for you when you are ill or injured.

Jess dedicated more than 500 hours to being on call for the ambulance squad in 2025.

Congratulations Jess!!

Congratulations to Lt. Drew Anderson, PhD, EMT who has been selected for the 2026 Hudson-Mohawk Region Award for Excellence in EMS Quality and Safety for his leadership in developing EMS responder peer support programs. Peer support programs create a safe space where first responders can talk with peers to share experiences, foster resilience, and focus on their well-being.

We're proud to see our very own Drew Anderson and Dave Afienko recognized by our six-county region for excellence in EMS. We are equally proud of our ACSO colleagues Henna Matin, Allison Barbara, and Brian Wood. We hope that you never have a medical emergency, but if you do these are some of the excellent people on our team who will be there for you, your family, and the entire community. Congratulations Drew, Dave, Henna, Allison, and Brian. We also congratulate our neighbors at Ravena Rescue Squad for their Agency of the Year award.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day celebration
