Today we remember and honor all those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. Without them we would not have the freedoms that we have today. Please say a prayer for them and the families they left behind.

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to Deputy Jon Samuelson from the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Samuelson stopped to assist a stranded motorist near Michigan City, Indiana. The motorist requested Deputy Samuelson transport him the the Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City. After Samuelson dropped him off, he was alerted to the fact hat the suspect was implicated in a criminal event that had taken place just a short time before Samuelson happened into him.

Once this discovery was made, Samuelson went into the hospital to try and locate the suspect. Samuelson was immediately fired upon by the suspect and was struck several times.

Samuelson was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

The 22-year-old suspect from Chicago, ILL. was apprehended shortly afterwards in a wooded area near the hospital.

Our hearts and prayers are going out to Deputy Samuelson, his family and the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department.
