A present day look at “Endurance” — a 12-foot aluminum and glass mosaic sculpture by visual artist Cheryl Foster, located at the Libby Wesley Plaza at the corner of SW 5th Avenue and West Atlantic Avenue. 🎨

Unveiled in 2012 and funded by a Delray Beach CRA Call to Artists, the sculpture pays homage to the strength and resilience of Delray’s original African American settlers. The plaza was later renamed in honor of longtime resident and community activist Elizabeth “Libby” Jackson Wesley. A fitting tribute to a woman whose legacy is woven into the fabric of this community.

Welcome to Delray Beach! ☀️🌴 The Delray Beach CRA helped fund the installation of new wayfinding signage throughout the CRA District, replacing signs that had been in place since 2000. The updated signage improves navigation, reinforces neighborhood identity, and creates a more welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

A present day look at the Old School Square parking garage, a project that has served downtown Delray Beach for nearly two decades. In 2007, the Delray Beach CRA contributed $6.5 million toward construction and acquired the property necessary to make it happen, adding 528 parking spaces and over 17,000 square feet of ground floor retail and office space to the heart of downtown.

Projects like this are a reminder of the long-term impact that thoughtful investment in a community can have.

A look at Artists Alley in the heart of Delray Beach, a corridor that has seen significant improvement thanks to a joint effort between the Delray Beach CRA and the City of Delray Beach. Flooding in the alley had long been a challenge for local businesses, but the installation of a new drainage system has resolved those infrastructure issues and helped create a better environment for residents and visitors alike.

The Delray Beach Housing Authority has been a cornerstone of our community for decades. Back in 2007, the Delray Beach CRA acquired the blighted property at 82 NW 5th Avenue and selected the Housing Authority to develop a mixed-use project that would bring permanent office space for the affordable housing organization to Historic 5th Avenue.

Today, the building is home to the Housing Authority's offices as well as affordable housing units upstairs, continuing its mission of improving the quality of life for low and moderate income families right here in Delray Beach. The CRA is proud of the role it played in making that a reality on this historic corridor.
