Starting May 1, 2026- a new fee for Out-of-State license plates will go into effect at Colorado State Parks. Daily passes for Out-of-State vehicles will be $15/ pass.
The Parks and Wildlife Commission approved the increase in the Out–of-State Daily Vehicle Pass fee during the March 2026 meeting. The funds generated from the increase will support important work to maintain and enhance our parks throughout the state.
At Chatfield, Elkhead Reservoir, Golden Gate Canyon, Pearl Lake, Stagecoach, State Forest, and Steamboat Lake State Parks, there is an additional $2 fee for both resident and out-of-state plates.

A variable price structure between residents and nonresidents is something that has long been codified within our regulations for hunting and fishing licenses. Similarly, other states charge variable fees for non-residents for admission to their state parks.
Annual pass prices will not be affected by the change.
All Colorado state parks require an entrance pass for motor vehicles.
