🚨 Dispatcher Appreciation Week! 🚨
Our 911 dispatchers are the calm voices on the other end of the line — answering calls, coordinating help, and supporting our community 24/7. They’re true heroes behind the scenes!
To show our thanks during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the MCVRS team fired up the grill with burgers, hot dogs, and tasty sides. 🍔🌭
While we were at it, here are a few common 911 myths — busted:

Myth: Dispatchers can see exactly where you are on a cell phone.
Truth: Not always! Landlines give the exact address, but cell phones often only give a general area. Always be ready to confirm your location.
Myth: If you accidentally call 911, just hang up quick.
Truth: Stay on the line and explain — hanging up makes them call you back, which ties up the line longer.
Myth: Dispatchers know everything happening everywhere.
Truth: They’re local heroes who handle your area only — no crystal ball, and they don’t control power outages.
