This week is the busiest shipping week of the year for mailing holiday cards and packages with USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
Here are some helpful hints:
1. Expect to wait in line. Some facilities have self-service kiosks, so you may be able to skip the line and utilize those.
2. Many post offices only have a limited number of holiday stamps, so don’t wait until the last minute or you maybe out of luck.
3. Ship early. Window staff do not set the prices of shipping parcels, so don’t argue with them or complain. The longer you wait, the more expensive it can get.
4. Have your packages properly labeled and sealed before approaching the window. If you are shipping internationally, make sure your customs form is also properly filled out and legible to read.
5. If you’re able to print your shipping labels from home, that will help immensely, and you can simply drop off at the counters.
