Join us for the National Take Back Initiative! Demarest PD, in collaboration with the DEA, is hosting the event on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Last year, over 4,383 law enforcement partners nationwide collected a staggering 599,897 pounds of unwanted medicines. Our goal is to provide a safe and anonymous opportunity for NJ citizens to dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted medications. Let’s tackle potential sources of abuse and misuse together, safeguarding public health and safety. Together, we can make a difference! The collected medications will be responsibly converted to clean energy by Covanta Energy at their waste facilities. Join us in protecting our community and environment.
- Medications may be disposed of in original containers, but residents are encouraged to remove identifying information from the label.
- All liquids, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container, ensuring that the cap is tightly sealed.
- Intra-venous solutions, injectables (including epipens), and syringes WILL NOT be accepted.
- Illicit substances such as ma*****na and methamphetamine WILL NOT be accepted.
- V**e pens will only be collected if the resident has removed the battery from the device; otherwise, they will not be accepted.
