We are happy to report that work has begun today on County road at the washed out culvert. Crews began removing debris from the brook.

Come join the Demarest Nature Center for beginner birdwatching with Bergen County Audubon Society June 4th, 9-11am at the Demarest Nature Center by the Wakelee field playground.

Also on June 4th, a lecture on “Trees, Forests and the Future” by master arborist Ray Slaman of Dumont Shade Tree commission At 2pm at the Demarest Train station.

Recently at the Demarest Council Meeting, the Demarest Volunteer Fire Association recognized long time resident Ray DiPietro for his service to our country during WW2, and to his service to our community. “Hot Lips”, as he so eloquently calls himself, has been playing taps on his trumpet for the fire department during our Veterans Day Services. We have recorded his “taps” and he will be heard for many more generations in Demarest.

In our on going effort to make Demarest more beautiful, the Shade Tree Commission planted two new Kwanza cherry trees at the County Road School with the assistance of Principal Mazzini and several of our wonderful students. It was a fun day for all and a real example of how our community works together to keep Demarest great.

There will be a Special Emergency Meeting of the Mayor & Council at 3:00 PM this afternoon at the Council Chambers. The purpose of the meeting is to amend the Temporary Budget. Formal action will be taken.

The DAA Opening Day Parade is on April 30th at 10:30 am. The parade will start at the Demarest Middle School and go to Wakelee Field where there will be food and fun!
