Tiny Rescue, Big Hearts

The City of Denham Springs Fire Department’s Station 3 crew recently answered one of their most adorable calls—a rescue involving 11 ducklings trapped in a storm drain.

While a worried mother duck kept a close eye on the operation, firefighters carefully worked together to safely retrieve each fluffy little adventurer. Before long, all 11 ducklings were reunited with their very relieved mom, who wasted no time leading her brood to safety.

From structure fires to storm drains, the Station 3 crew is always ready to help—proving that no rescue is too big or too small when someone is in need.

Denham Springs, LA – On May 14, 2026, at approximately 5:03 p.m., a Denham Springs Police motor officer was traveling eastbound on US 190 when a vehicle waiting to turn left from Connie Drive pulled out in front of the officer’s motorcycle.

The officer sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital with injuries. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and is still under investigation at this time.

The City of Denham Springs Fire Department recently conducted live fire training at the Eastside Fire Department Training Facility, providing our firefighters with critical, hands-on experience in a controlled environment. This training allows our personnel to sharpen essential skills such as fire attack, search and rescue, ventilation, and teamwork under realistic fire conditions.

Live fire evolutions are a vital component of firefighter preparedness, ensuring our crews are equipped to respond safely and effectively to real-world emergencies. By training in high-heat, low-visibility environments, our firefighters strengthen their decision-making, communication, and operational readiness.

We extend our appreciation to the Eastside Fire Department for the use of their training facility and their continued partnership in advancing regional fire service capabilities.
