🗳️ Crawford County Post-Election Audit Complete

Today, we completed the required post-election audit. The Iowa Secretary of State randomly selected Denison 3rd Ward for the audit, and the races hand counted were U.S. Senate and Auditor of State.

We're pleased to report that the hand count matched the machine-tabulated results exactly, confirming the accuracy of the election results.

We thank our bipartisan audit board, election staff, and the many election workers who work so hard and diligently to ensure secure, accurate, and trustworthy elections for the voters of Crawford County.

We've received a few questions about write-in votes from yesterday's Primary Election.

Under Iowa law, write-in votes are only individually counted when there are enough of them to potentially affect the outcome of a race. This most often occurs when no candidate filed for an office and a write-in candidate receives enough votes to qualify for the nomination.

In yesterday's election, none of the write-in votes met the threshold requiring an individual count. As a result, all write-in votes were reported as "scattering," and there are no additional results to add to the election night totals.

🗳️ The Primary Election is Over... So Now What?

The polls may be closed, but our work isn't done yet!

Today, our team is processing address changes, Election Day registrations, and ensuring every voter receives voter credit.

Our Absentee and Special Voters Precinct Board reconvened this morning to complete the tabulation of write-in votes. Those results will be announced later today.

Good news: Crawford County had no provisional ballots, so the absentee board will not need to reconvene.

The Iowa Secretary of State has also announced the post-election audit. Crawford County will audit Denison 3rd Ward, reviewing the U.S. Senate and Auditor of State races. The audit will take place Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

Next, we'll prepare the official canvass for the Board of Supervisors to review and certify next Tuesday.

Just remember: this was only the playoff game - the championship game is November 3! 🏆

We have just 2 hours remaining before the polls close at 8:00 PM!

As of 6:00 PM, Crawford County has reached a 23.6% voter turnout.

✅ Republican voters: 1,264
✅ Democratic voters: 299
✅ Total Election Day voters so far: 1,563

After that, results will be updated throughout the evening as our precinct runners bring in results from polling locations across Crawford County. Please note that totals will change as additional precincts report.

🗳️ 4:00 PM Election Day Update

As of 4:00 PM, we've had a 20.3% voter turnout across Crawford County!

✅ Republican voters: 1,020
✅ Democratic voters: 251
✅ Total Election Day voters so far: 1,271

When combined with our early and absentee voters, we've had 1,808 total voters participate so far.

⏰ There are still 4 hours left to vote! Polls remain open until 8:00 PM. If you haven't made it to the polls yet, there's still plenty of time to make your voice heard.

• Surrender it at your polling location and vote a regular ballot, OR
• Bring it to the Auditor’s Office by 8:00 p.m.

🗳️ Not registered but still want to vote? No problem! Bring a valid photo ID to your polling location and you can register before you vote.

🏠 If your photo ID does not show your current address, please bring a valid document proving your residence, such as a utility bill, paycheck stub, bank statement, etc.
