Village of Denmark

This is definitely a "dumpy" situation and we certainly understand this is not the most favorable option given the circumstances. We are asking for everyone's continued cooperation and help with this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Denmark Village Hall.

Again, this drop off site is only for the VILLAGE of Denmark residents. If you live outside of the Denmark village limits, please contact your local municipality to gather information on your garbage disposal.

Enforcement action can and shall be taken on violators. If you observe any violations of illegal dumping, please contact (920) 391-7450 to report.

Please share this information with neighbors and friends the may not have the internet. Thank you!

Advance Disposal Change of Service update from the Village:

Effective March 23, 2020, Advanced Disposal is suspending all manual curbside garbage and recycling collection, until further notice.
All dumpsters will be moved to Memorial Park (Wisconsin Avenue).
• All trash/refuse must be bagged and placed in containers
• Recycling must be placed loose in the recyclable receptacle, excluding plastic bags.
Due to the confusion over the last week, and illegal dumping, the below guidelines will now be implemented:
• The dumpsters will now be monitored 24-7
• Please have your ID ready, as it may be required for verification purposes
• Dumpsters will be open during the hours of 7am-3:30pm Monday – Friday, and 7am-noon on Saturdays. There will be no dumping outside of these hours - the gates will be locked.
• Please put only your weekly garbage and recycling in the dumpsters. If it wouldn’t get picked up with your weekly pick up, don’t put in dumpster. No big, bulky, or hazardous items allowed. For example: Mattresses, furniture, bicycles, etc..
See the Village Ordinance below listing items not allowed.
This dumpster site is for Village of Denmark residents only. Illegal dumping is a crime, and all those in violation will get citations. All citations issued will be at the maximum allowable amount.
Please use the dumpsters responsibly.

B. The Village of Denmark prohibits, unless specifically exempted by this article or by order of the Village Board of the Village of Denmark, certain waste from being placed in any type solid waste containers or receptacles in the Village of Denmark for any solid waste removal and for any later disposal, storage, treatment or recycling, namely:
(1) Dead animals.
(2) Feces.

TRAFFIC SAFETY TIP Vol. 3

What do I do if there is a semi or similar length vehicle at a roundabout?

Per Wisconsin State Statute 346.18(8)(a) and (b) , if you are at the roundabout first, you can enter before the 40 foot vehicle; you still have to yield to vehicles in the roundabout. If you come up to the roundabout at the same time as a semi or 40 foot vehicle, you have to wait for the 40 foot vehicle to enter the roundabout first and give it space to navigate the roundabout. If you are behind this 40 foot vehicle you have to give space to that vehicle to navigate the roundabout; the 40 foot vehicle still has to yield to vehicles which are in the roundabout.

***MARK YOUR CALENDAR***

The Spring National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 25, 2020!

Begin collecting your unwanted, unused, or expired prescription drug to have them ready to bring to the Denmark Village Hall on April 25 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Denmark DEOs will be present on this day for this event!

Once again, Denmark Village Hall has been setup as a collection site for this nationally recognized day by the DEA.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. It is dangerous and often tragic. Majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. This is your opportunity to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

Please, take a moment to clean out your medicine cabinet and turn in (safely and anonymously) your RX drugs at Denmark Village Hall on this day! This event addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue and it is always great to see people utilizing this collection site.

In April 2019, 55.7 pounds of RX drugs were turned in for disposal.
In October 2019, 45.1 pounds of RX drugs were turned in for disposal.

Lets see what we can do next month!! The red drop off box is available also during business hours at the Denmark Village Hall in the front lobby.

03/05/2020

On Monday, March 2nd, Directed Enforcement Officers Verheyen and Estano, along with School Resource Officer Dzekute participated and assisted in a large scale joint training held at Denmark High School.

This was Fire Departments' Active Hostile Response training. The Fire Departments in Brown County that are members of MABAS 12 participate in this training, including Denmark Fire Department! The other volunteer fire departments present at Monday's training included (but not limited to) New Franken, Greenleaf, Morrison, and Wrightstown.

This training consisted of classroom instruction in February followed up with a practical/scenario portion in March (which is what took place on Monday). Each fire member had to attend at least (1) classroom of two offered and (1) practical of four offered.

The Active Hostile Response training is a follow-up resource management when law enforcement / first responders respond to an active shooter incident.

This training is overseen by Fire Chief Alan Matzke of the City of De Pere with the assistance of others, including the Brown County Sheriff's Office Training Division, School Resource Officers, and Village Directed Enforcement Officers.

Thank you to those who volunteered their time to assist in the scenarios and to all those who participated in the training. Denmark DEOs look forward to continuing to build their partnership with Denmark Fire Department and Fire Chief Dave Bielinski! We look forward to seeing you again for another practical/scenario night held at DHS later this month!

TRAFFIC UNIT TIP, Vol 3

My family member called me stating they were just involved in an accident on the highway, what do I do?

This is a situation which happens all too often, and for family members receiving this frantic phone call, it seems to be one of the worse possible situations. First, if you get this phone call, please do not go to the scene! Keep your family member calm and reassure them that everything will be ok; then have them call 911, this way if they are not sure of their location, the 911 operator can use the coordinates from their call to find their location for the responding officers.

Second, the person calling is not so injured that they are unconscious or worse, so rest assured, the officers, the rescue and fire personnel on scene are taking great care of your loved one.

Third, what happens when a family member drives to the scene is it causes danger to YOU, the other drivers at scene, the first responders, tow truck drivers and the other motorists driving past. The less obstacles at the scene of an accident is better for everyone involved.

The officers will facilitate a drop off point to meet family members or the tow truck operator can drop off the driver with the vehicle to meet the family at a different location and thus, keeping the scene safer.

We at the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, along with the other Law Enforcement agencies and Fire & Rescue, have you and your loved ones in mind trying to clear the accident scene and making sure they are safe along with the other drivers on the highway.

And as always, please drive safe!

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over National Holiday Campaign begins!

It runs from December 13, 2019 through New Year's Day (January 1, 2020). During this campaign law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin will patrol in greater numbers for longer hours watching for impaired drivers.

The holiday season is a festive time for many, but it can quickly turn tragic if drivers make the dangerous and irresponsible decision to get behind the wheel impaired.

Last year in Wisconsin, alcohol-related crashes resulted in 160 deaths and nearly 3,300 injuries. While alcohol-impaired drivers are a serious concern, law enforcement faces a growing challenge with drug-impaired drivers - people whose ability to safely operate a motor vehicle is compromised by legal or illegal drugs including prescription and over-the-counter medications.

There are several ways citizens can help (information from the Wisconsin DOT, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety):

 Never allow someone to get behind the wheel impaired. Find a safe alternative to get them home. If you plan to celebrate, identify a sober designated driver;

 Report impaired drivers to law enforcement by calling 911. Provide as much detail as possible on the driver, vehicle, and location;

 Download the free “Drive Sober” mobile app from the WisDOT website. The app includes a “find a ride” feature to help locate mass transit and taxi services;

 Some taverns and restaurants have programs to provide patrons a safe ride home. Visit www.tlw.org/ and click on Safe Ride;

 Make sure that everyone in your vehicle is buckled up – every trip. Watch your speed and eliminate distractions.

Safety along our roadways is not just a law enforcement issue. Preventing crashes, injuries and deaths requires the cooperation of all motorists and citizens.

Happy Holidays and stay safe,
Denmark Directed Enforcement Officers

I'll be posting some pictures later concerning the apartments on N. Wall across from the High School and the placement of their funky dumpsters. I've put up with it the last couple of years on the back corner of my property, no, they've been moved along side the house. Is there a village/county ordinance concerning that? I do I need to get much more formal and potentially nastier to get that addressed? I'll provide pictures, shortly.
How come no posts before the "day off" on here for drugs drop off? Drove past Saturday morning, saw you putting out sign, but had plans out of area. (Do not get newspaper so this is how I get information)
🛑🚨🚔🚓🛑🚨🚔🚒🚦Have to get talk about the excessive speeding on North Ave. Again...yet... WE NEED PATROL AT NIGHT!!!!!! On 4-25, my parents, trying to get into our driveway around 7:30 p.m. amongst heavy traffic, ALL speeding, almost got KILLED by a red car going way over 55. Even outside social media people are complaining they never see a cop in Denmark, don't know em'. "Where are they?" "Who are they?"🚔🚓🚨🛑🚔🚓🚨🛑 I have to leave 30 mins. early in the morning, just to get out of my driveway to get my child to school due to these idiots. The irony is I have to rush her to get ready in the house to avoid the crappy drivers. Note: traffic volume is understandable. Speeding excessively in heavy traffic is unacceptable. Watching at Fire Dept. is so yesterday. Watching only after school, in spots everyone is already aware of after construction zones is useless! WE NEED COPS AT NIGHT!!!!!!! AS WELL!!!!!! I see a Sheriff car from time to time after school. Bout' it. Putting up the radar speed viewer sign is useless, even when it's charged. This is giving our town and law enforcement a bad rep. If this were famous Rosendale, WI., where EVERYONE going 1 mile over gets a ticket, the revenue in this town would be super and more than enough to pay off the high school and build another! Stop photographing plates people. Can you Prove the car was speeding? TAKE VIDEOS, DON'T PAUSE, WALK TO NEAREST STREET SIGN And include it in video BEFORE OR AFTER AN INCIDENT, GET FAMILIAR BACKGROUNDS. Do not pause video! It will cause technicalities. LET'S GET THIS OFF OF SOCIAL COMPLAINTS INTO REAL HANDS. IF ANYONE KNOWS PEOPLE, POLICE, ANYONE WHO CAN HELP AT THIS POINT, WILL TAKE ANYTHING. 🛑🚦🚥🚨🚔🚓🚔🚓 Well, presumed village rummage sale not-so-accidents might get attention. Copy/paste to timeline, than post to feeds and post to groups and emails. I encourage letters in papers and to police and whoever above. Please help. Have a good day!🙂
