Today we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day and recognize two incredible members of the Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office—Karen and Lori.

They are far more than the voices behind the phones, the emails, the data entry, and the calculations. They are the driving force that keeps our office moving forward every single day. Their professionalism, dedication, and ability to handle countless moving parts—always with a smile—do not go unnoticed.

Quite simply, we could not do what we do without them.

Thank you, ladies, for everything you do!

Happening today!!

This is your friendly reminder about the statewide test of the Emergency Alert System occurring TODAY from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Alerts will be sent through your phone (much like an Amber alert), and broadcast over the TV and radio stations. You may also hear outdoor warning sirens.

With multiple alerts possible during the statewide test, it could be mildly (or very) annoying for a short time.

But here’s the important part 👇
🚫 Please don’t turn off emergency alerts on your phone.

These alerts are critical for:
🌪️ Severe weather warnings
🚨 Public safety threats
👮 AMBER alerts and more

When something serious happens, this is one of the fastest ways you can be reached.

So, please, hang in there during the test! It helps ensure these systems work when they are truly needed.

And just to confirm one more time…
👉 This is only a TEST. No action on your part is required.

On April 2nd, between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM, agencies across Texas will conduct a statewide test of emergency alert systems to include IPAWS/WEA/EAS and jurisdictional alert system like the Everbridge mass notification system.

During that time, you may receive one or more alerts on your phone, TV, or radio. These could include:
A loud alert tone and message on your cell phone (Wireless Emergency Alerts)
A message interrupting television or radio broadcasts (Emergency Alert System)

Because many agencies across Texas are participating at the same time, it’s likely you'll receive multiple alerts or repeated notifications.

The goal is to validate alerting systems, improve familiarity with notification processes, and identify capability gaps prior to a real-world emergency.

This is what the alert will look like:
Denton County: TEST of emergency alert system. No emergency. No action needed.
Denton County: PRUEBA. Prueba del sistema de alerta. No hay emergencia. No accion necesaria.
