Today, we honor Juneteenth, the day that marked the end of slavery in the United States and a celebration of Black freedom, resilience, and achievement.
At Audubon, we recognize that everyone deserves the opportunity to connect with nature, find belonging outdoors, and help shape a future where both people and birds can thrive. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we reflect on the importance of creating inclusive communities and expanding access to the outdoors for all.

Reminder that our visitor center is closed today, but our trails are open sunrise to sunset.

It’s time to invest in our communities to protect habitat for birds and people. That’s why we’re calling on Congress to support the passage of the Local Communities and Bird Habitat Stewardship Act. This legislation empowers local communities to lead conservation projects that restore native plants, reduce threats for birds like building collisions, and build green spaces, for both birds and people.

Click the link in our comments to urge Congress to invest in greener, bird-friendly communities now!

Happy National Prairie Day!

Here at Spring Creek Prairie, we work to protect the tallgrass prairie and the birds that rely on it.

Take a moment today to appreciate the beauty of the prairies around you. From the tiniest insects, to the 8-foot-tall big bluestem. These incredible ecosystems need our help more than ever before.

Our incredible friends and partners at Midwest Natives Nursery are donating 10% of their sales today to help support our mission of protecting the tallgrass prairie! Make sure to head over there today to grab all of your native plant needs! 💚

We’re OPEN and it’s National Prairie Day!

10% of today’s sales will be donated to the wonderful folks at Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center in Denton, NE, a non-profit organization working diligently to protect and promote native plants, wildlife, and one of the most critically endangered ecosystems on Earth, the Tallgrass Prairie, through conservation, education, and compassion.

The overnight storms have now passed and cleared the way for another fantastic weekend for planting rounded out with additional rain chances tomorrow evening, so make the most of the moisture while we’ve got it and join us on this National Prairie Day to shop the largest selection of native perennial wildflowers and grasses in Nebraska, grown locally and pesticide-free right here in Lincoln!

And for the cherry on top, know that with every plant (or T-shirt or yard sign!) purchased today you are not only supporting pollinators and the environment in your own backyard but also contributing to the preservation of a prairie near you as well!

We’ll be here until 4 PM!
