We were out working the field yesterday on some monitoring equipment and found this huge guy. Broad-headed Skink. Plestiodon laticeps (Thanks to our intern, Amber Landers, for the ID). We don't see this type of skink in Denton very often but it does go to show that nature is all around us and we can still get out and walk around in it and find surprises every day (this is even more important now). If you are out walking around to get some air maybe get off the beaten path and see what is out there. You might be surprised.
