“Sunday School” - Eira Quinn

They told me about Noah
But not the bodies.
Not the screaming
beneath rising water,
or the mothers
who begged God for mercy
as he watched from the clouds
and said nothing.
I heard about Job,
but they skipped the bet.
The part where God let the Devil
ruin a man’s life
just to prove a point.
Killed his children.
Stripped his skin.
And called it
“Righteous testing”.
They told about Abraham’s faith,
but not Isaac’s trauma.
Not what it does to a boy
to see his father raise a knife
with heavens approval.
Not the silence that follows
when you survive a god
who wanted you dead.
No one mentioned the concubines,
the r***d,
the forgotten wives,
the daughters sold
for the price of land
or peace
or power.
They didn’t talk about
stoning disobedient sons,
or killing gay lovers,
or what to do
if a woman is not a virgin
on her wedding night.
They said Jesus died for us,
but not the God
could’ve chosen forgiveness
without blood.
That maybe the crucifixion
wasn’t salvation,
But spectacle.
They said
“Trust the word”
but they handed me
a censored book
and a list of acceptable questions.
And when I asked about the rest,
they said
“Have faith”
But faith without truth
is just fear
in nicer clothing.
And now tat I’ve read
what they skipped -
now that I’ve seen
what they hid-
I can’t go back
to coloring pages
And quiet amens.
The god they taught me
was edited.
Redacted.
Rebranded.
But the truth?
The truth was always there.
In the margins.
In the footnotes.
In the blood.

Shared from Fred Schott:
I didn’t watch whatever you want to call the President’s speech last night. We all knew it would be a Biden-bashing, I’m-the-greatest, you-owe-me, rerun. But I had to read a summary just to make sure we hadn’t gone to war yet. I say “yet” because also yesterday the spineless, abdicating Congress couldn’t even pass a resolution to confirm their own Constitutionally-mandated responsibility to declare or not declare war.

We would have all been better off if Congress had taken this entire year off and done nothing. Actually a lot better off.

But I digress.

I didn’t read about a Democrat response to Trump’s speech. So, here is what Jeffries or Schumer or someone should have purchased some tv time to say:

The one thing I'll give Donald Trump a lot of credit for is that he's proven basically everything Progressives have been saying about the Republican Party for the past 45 years has been absolutely true, and that nothing the GOP has claimed to support to get money and votes from its members they actually believe in.

Their entire ethos is nothing more than simply stonewalling and opposing whatever Democrats support.

For decades, Republicans claimed to be the party for Christian and “family” values; for small government; for states' rights; for the free market; for keeping government and regulations out of private business; for fiscal responsibility; and for opposing dictators.

Yet here we are with Trump, a president and human being who has proven daily, weekly, this entire year to literally be the antithesis of every one of these.

Every single one.

Let’s review.

“Party of Christian and ‘family’ values.” Trump doesn't go to church. He’s never gone to church unless there’s a photo op involved. Literally, never. He has committed adultery God knows how many times and cheated on every one of his wives. Once with a p**n star while his wife was home with his newborn child. And just for good measure, he fills his highest positions in government with fellow serial adulterers and was besties with the most notorious pe*****le in history.

He doesn't display a single trait of Jesus. None. That is why he isn’t the anti-Christ but he is at least one of, if not the, anti-Jesus.

“Small government.” Trump wants government, which in his mind means him, involved in every aspect of your life. Naming sports teams, who owns social media, what programming is allowed, policing what everyone can say, policing what people are permitted to protest, even who is entitled to the freedoms and rights of citizenship. He wants the government to control everything in your life.

“States rights.” I love this one. When the federal government is led by Democrats, every argument is about states rights. Leave abortion to the states. Leave any possible attempt at sensible gun restrictions, like keeping them away from people with mental health issues or anger management issues, to the states. Leave property rights to the states.

But the minute Trump takes the Oval, how dare California or Massachusetts or Arizona set their own policies or laws. The DOJ and DHS get weaponized to the point of arresting state officials while FEMA funds are used for extortion.

“Free market and keeping government and regulations out of private business.” We’ve never seen anything like the government overreach in the last eleven months. Everything from Jimmy Kimmel’s show to whiplashing tariffs to pardons for billion dollar thieves to who gets to buy Warner Brothers or sits on the Fed are all at the juvenile and narcissistic whim of Donald. All. We now live in a reality where every corporation in America is either genuflecting, blowing air up the emperor’s skirt, or looking over their shoulder to see if they’ll be targeted or rewarded, not by the public or their customers as it should be in a free market economy, but by Trump.

“Fiscal responsibility.” That’s pure fiction for Trump along with every recent Republican president. They blow the budget and the debt wide open. Reagan, the Bushes? Never once came close to a balanced budget. But Trump is a world-class debt expander notwithstanding his usual fictional bluster in 2016 to “eliminate the national debt very easily,” and current claim that tariffs are bringing in “trillions in revenue.” If trillions were coming in our and your grandchildren’s debt would be going down. Your debt has gone up, I hope you are sitting down, 6 billion dollars…per day this year. It has gone up more and faster this year than at any time other than during Covid under Trump’s last year in office.

You want facts? Raw numbers? Ten of the last eleven recessions were
started under Republican Presidents.
The only three Presidents in the past half century to slow the growth of our debt were, ready for it, Clinton, Obama, and Biden. Six out of seven Presidents with the highest job creation rates since World War II were Democrats.
GDP growth, which measures the strength of our entire nation’s economy, under Republican Presidents averages just 2.5%. Under Democrat President’s, it’s a whopping 4.3%. Seventy percent better. That’s more money for our country and for you and for me. Not the smoke-and-mirrors of higher costs with tariffs and then sending just a percentage of what he took out of your pocket all year back to you.

“Opposing dictators.” At least prior Republican Presidents did this. Not our man in the White House now. Orbán? Great guy. Putin? Roll out the red carpet and offer him Ukraine. Xi? Get your advanced computer chips right here for a low, low cost. And don’t even start on the 9/11 House of Saud and terrorist-harboring Qataris. They’re the besties now of our President.

So, let’s give credit to Trump for not even trying to hide the full-bore hypocrisy of the Republican Party’s leaders and their platforms. Every guiding principle they have claimed, when push came to shove, was complete bs. You know what their entire platform has actually been? Get and maintain absolute power so they could grab as much of the monetary pie as they could, legally or illegally, and never be held accountable for it. Sound like anyone’s history that you know?

We condemn the abrupt termination of Dr. Tom Alter, a tenured history professor and respected member of the Texas State University community.

On September 7, 2025, Dr. Alter delivered an off-campus talk as a private citizen at the Revolutionary Socialism Conference. Karlyn Borysenko, a clickbait internet personality known for her fascist views, recorded his talk and began calling for him to be fired on September 8. On September 10, Texas State University, under President Kelly Damphousse, terminated Dr. Alter without a hearing or due process, issuing a public letter announcing the decision.

This comes on the heels of Texas A&M firing a professor under similar circumstances, highlighting a troubling trend of public universities quickly capitulating to online smear campaigns.

Dr. Alter’s firing is not just an attack on one professor. It is an attack on all Texans’ rights to speak freely without fear of retaliation. Public institutions cannot allow online provocateurs or political actors to dictate who can or cannot express lawful views without losing their livelihood. Kelly Damphousse should not take orders from a YouTuber.

We stand in solidarity with Dr. Alter and call on Texas State University to:

1. Reinstate Dr. Alter immediately.

2. Publicly affirm the constitutional right of all employees to speak as private citizens without retaliation.

3. Establish clear policies guaranteeing due process before any termination related to off-duty expression.
