SG: TSAC x TUA

Hey, roadrunners! From March 22nd to March 26th, our awesome TSAC councilors and delegates had the chance to dive into a truly amazing leadership experience at Tulane University. We explored everything from student governance to leadership development and community engagement, and we couldn’t be more inspired!

Day 1: Getting to Know TUA x SG: TSAC Student Government
We kicked things off by meeting with the Tulane Undergraduate Assembly (TUA). It was so fantastic to exchange ideas about how our student bodies work and learn from each other’s governance styles. Strengthening our connections and understanding different leadership approaches was such an eye-opener!

Day 2: Leadership & Cultural Adventure
Our day started with a delightful “Telling Your Story” Luncheon, where we discovered just how powerful personal stories can be in leadership. After that, we had an exciting campus tour that showcased Tulane’s vibrant student life. We finished the day with a moving documentary screening, “The New Orleans Four,” focused on civil rights history.

Day 3: Community Engagement plus Joint Assembly
We had the chance to explore Tulane’s Center for Public Service, learning all about leadership and the incredible student-led community projects. During lunch, we enjoyed an inspiring chat with Dr. Laura Osteen and Dr. Sarah Cunningham, who shared some great tips for meaningful student advocacy. We wrapped up our trip with the TUA x SG: TSAC Joint Assembly, which really reinforced our commitment to working together and empowering students. We forged incredible connections that will help shape the future of our student government at MSU Denver!

We look forward to the mutual benefits and growth for TSAC!

🌟SG: TSAC Advisor 2024-2025🌟

My name is Stephen T Cucchiara (he/him/his) and am one of the advisors for the Student Advocacy Council. I have worked in higher education for over 15 years, primarily encompassing the student co-curricular experience and developing initiatives focused on student belonging. I have advised student governing organizations throughout my career, and served as a two-time elected student body president while in undergrad. My professional philosophy is centered around building dynamic, inclusive, involvement experiences for students centered around their holistic development, ultimately creating a sense of belonging and a feeling that they matter. I do this through a student first approach with the understanding that student affairs is meant to serve the needs of students. I currently serve as the Executive Director of Student Life and Belonging for the Center of Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Students are my passion and I am excited to serve as an advisor to TSAC in order to guide advocacy work and help TSAC councilors serve as strong representatives for the MSU Denver Student Population.
