Hello F.E.A.T. page followers. As you know, F.E.A.T. has been inactive for quite some time. A die-hard group of volunteers tried to resurrect it several times. A few of us still linger. This page was unpublished but not deleted. A few times over the years we approached Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery about possible collaboration. With the upcoming storm, the idea surfaced again.

If the idea of being in an organized effort appeals to you, we encourage you to learn more about Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery. Back when F.E.A.T. started the world was a simpler place. Gene and other volunteers dispatched with phone-trees and pen and paper. Part of the challenge for F.E.A.T. leadership is that its nearly a full time job. Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery has become a sophisticated organization. It has dedicated volunteer leadership. We want to help our community and this seems like a win-win approach.

It is our pleasure to share this message from our friends at Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery:

Hello to the Four-Wheel Emergency Assistance Team Members from Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery!

We would like to invite you to consider joining our mission and thereby continue the tradition of F.E.A.T.

Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery is a non-profit all volunteer organization that has chosen to undertake the role of recovering stuck, stranded or damaged vehicles from 4x4 and Forest Service roads in the Colorado Region while working with state and federal agencies that oversee those same roads.

Designed to provide rapid response to threats to health, welfare, and safety, Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery will deploy qualified individuals with a dedication to public service and the 4x4 community:

-- To provide unpaid professional vehicle and person rescue and recovery services on Colorado service roads and 4x4 trails.
-- To Provide education to the public regarding preparedness and safe off-roading practices
-- To support other organizations in advocating proper trail use and etiquette.
-- To provide opportunities for members of the 4x4 community to engage in recovery operations and learn safe recovery practices.
-- To support local government and volunteer organizations in search and rescue operations.
-- To sponsor, host, and/or participate in events and activities that promote the 4x4 hobby.
-- To foster a culture of mutual respect and professionalism.

In addition to this core mission, we also provide transport for critical medical personnel and rescue/recovery of stranded motorists during extreme weather events.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and have been in operation for over four years, we are insured, and are a members of the Colorado Search and Rescue Association (CSAR). We are a registered resource on the Statewide WebEOC and on multiple occasions have worked with front range hospitals, and the State Office of Emergency Management. Each of our members are required to meet certain training requirements depending on the mission, including: ICS training, first aid/CPR, ham radio, recovery, and driving training, among others.

We believe our two missions have significant overlap and we would welcome your participation in our organization.

We currently have 200+ members each of whom has met the following eligibility requirements:

1. Any individual who supports the Mission Statement above. Membership is granted after:
2. Completion and receipt of a membership application;
3. Receipt of annual dues (currently $100);
4. Reviewing and acknowledging the bylaws;
5. Reviewing and signing the Policies & Procedures; and
6. Clearing a multi-state background check.
