Mental health challenges often begin in adolescence, making the support they receive vital to them succeeding in school, building healthy relationships, and developing resilience for the future. The I Matter Colorado program is one of the ways the BHA serves children, youth and families, offering 6 free youth therapy sessions.

BHA was proud to be represented by I Matter Grant Specialist, Tripti Sharma in a recent community forum that shared the significant growth and permanency of the I Matter program. Originally launched as a rapid response to the pandemic, I Matter was made a permanent state resource through HB24-001, ensuring that Colorado youth have ongoing access to free, confidential therapy.

To date, BHA and I Matter have served nearly 20,000 youth across all 64 counties. This success is driven by a robust network of licensed providers and a deliberate focus on health equity, including quadrupling the Spanish-speaking provider base in just three years.

By offering 800–1,000 session slots monthly and virtual appointments in as little as three hours, BHA and I Matter Colorado are fulfilling the commitment to making mental health support accessible for every family in Colorado.

BHA supports DEA Takeback Day!

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often leads to tragic outcomes. That's why last year it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in a record amount of prescription drugs safely and anonymously through the DEA Takeback Day campaign.

This year's DEA Takeback Day starts 4/25 at 10:00 a.m. MST.

Help keep others safe this year, and every year.

BHA is thrilled to welcome the expertise and leadership of Stephanie Beasley into her important role as Commissioner!

I’m thrilled to welcome the expertise and leadership of Stephanie Beasley and Gretchen Hammer into these important roles. Their experience and passion for public service will strengthen Colorado and the people we serve. Stephanie comes to us from the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, and Gretchen has previously served with the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing as the Medicaid Director. I know that both of them will continue the important work of expanding access and reducing costs for the care people need, whether it’s for physical or mental health.
